991 recall
#16
I hate it for you guys with the first model year 991. I know it doesn't make you feel any better, but this is the reason I never buy a first model year car. There are just too many issues like this that can pop up.

For some reason, this only applies to certain VIN#s. The head tech says the computer is down in Germany right now. He's going to call me tomorrow and let me know the scoop. When I get it, I'll post it. He says it's a limited number of vehicles. Sounds like a quality control issue when someone was absent.

Could be related to beer consumption. During my recent factory tour, the briefer noted that unlimited beer was available in the lunch room--this is Germany after all--but if a worker screws up on the line after imbibing, they are toast

Yeah, sorry to hear about the troubles, and yes they will pass. Campaign for a free first service for the trouble.
You might want to think of it this way,....some other car companies would simply look the other way and "take their chances" that a customer will have a problem. I'd rather Porsche be pro-active instead of just reactive. Many times it's a simple problem that requires a time intensive fix. Maybe a machine that seals a panel went out of adjustment and applied too little or too much sealant,....or a mm off from where it was supposed to be causing the problem.
I would like to see what really went wrong and what the fix is,....right now anything else is just conclusion jumping.

OK I was curious about this for my 991 as well (very early build, had the original fuel line recall). I searched my VIN on Carfax (couldn't find a better place...) and this came up:
Recall Results:Customer Satisfaction Notification found:
Manufacturer Voluntary Service Action issued
#WC27 Voluntary Service Action - Re-program PDK
control unit
First I've heard of this. Anyone know what this is?

Not to hijack the thread - but
Has anyone heard of any recall or open campaign regarding the doors/side windows or sunroof. Both my doors are loud over bumps. And the sunroof when fully open makes some cheap noises over bumps as well. Rest of the car is solid (except for maybe the door panels when the bass is up).
I'm happy with the build quality, but something has to be done about these doors (I don't know that its the doors - the sounds seem to come from the top of the B pillar - definitely not door seals as it doesn't go away with windows down, and not the seat belt tensioner I fiddled with it and nothing...could be the roof liner or the rear side window making a racket)
Has anyone else experienced these noises?
Thanks,
DRP

Seriously, the squeaks never rose to anything I'd complain about, but not welcome in a $100k car. My 21 yr old NSX is pretty much squeak-free. Then again, no cobblestones in the hood.

5700 miles and no problems on a 991 Cab. Just had an oil change - no recalls, asked about the wind deflector issue and was told mine was fixed at the port (essentially just regreased the mechanism). Owned Porsches for 40 years, never heard or experienced these type of problems - knock on wood, probably wouldn't still be buying Porsches.
