Following GT3 at the track
Went to the track again Sunday with my friend and his GT3. Here is a video link to the warmup laps. After that, I couldn't keep up with his extra horsepower and track tires (I was running what was left of my street tires), but he still only gained a couple seconds per lap on me....

Thanks. It isn't too often that we can run the full track at Miller MotorSports Park - 4.5miles - 23 turns. Running the two different half tracks earlier in the year helped me to really learn all the turns on each side before putting the entire thing together. I got up to 138mph on the home straight. The GT3 was able to hit more than 150. My car is at the dealer this morning for a brake line bleed. At the end of the day the pedal was getting soft (but the brakes still worked great) from the tremendous amount of heat that was generated by all the braking. I was doing 105mph IN turn 4, getting around 120mph right before the hairpin that is turn 5. I'm expecting them to call me and tell me I need new pads on the rear (they looked thin).

Thanks for posting. Looks like great fun.
Does the 991 have the blinking brake lights when in Sport+ like the GT3 in the vid?
I haven't followed one that I know is in Sport+ yet, and is a bit hard to see your own rear...

Did your friend have a GT3 or a GT3RS? If it is a GT3 you should be able to push hard (provided that your tires are holding up) and stay very close. After all, both have the same lap time at the 'ring
Looks like you had a lot of fun! There is definitely no substitute ...

I hope my pads and rotors are o.k.! Did you get pulsations? Mine feel smooth.
My friend has the 2011 or 2012 GT3 4.0 (I believe that makes it the RS). He has 100 more HP, and was running Hoosiers. On the long straights he could pull away from me pretty good....

That makes it a GT3 RS 4.0 indeed (checked it running the video in HD too), a dream car for many of us! Your friend is a lucky man and you have nothing to be ashamed of! Back to the 'ring lap times, his car does it in 7'27" vs. a very respectable 7'40" for the 991S. For what it's worth (and representative of our real life experience...), the 997 TT does it in 7'47".

These machines are BEASTS on the track. I had the privilege in driving bot the Carrera & Carrera S around "The Ridge Motorsports Park" here in Washington. Even with my limited driving experience with Porsches, it isn't hard to see how planted this car stays in any corner you throw at it be it a hair-pin, chicane, or sweeping right & lefts.
