Sport Chrono benefits in PDK car and Power steering Plus

Hi,
I know in 997.2 Sports Chrono was essential as it had faster gear changes in Sport/Sport+

In 911 sport mode is standard , So
1) Does the Sport mode in 911 allow faster gear changes or just amore aggresive throttle?
2) Sport chrno gives dynamic mounts , can on feel the diff in street cornering etc?
3) I think Sport plus makes the shift firmer, Does 911 Sport chrono do anything to PDK shift speeds etc in sport/sport plus ?,
4) I test drive a 911 s coupe with Steering plus and it was light but still responsive, are folks gettng this option?

Thanks

Sports Chrono plus is a must option on the 991 PDK.
The power steering plus was kind of lame and not worth the money IMHO.

Sport chrono is essential. Pointless to get a 991 S without that and the sport exhaust. If you don't want those, stick to the base model - you'll be more than happy.

I like the power steering plus option and have selected it. It does not affect the steering at normal and high speeds, only at very low speeds.

The steering BTW changes its feel fairly dramatically depending on your basic suspension selection. From GT like to somewhat like a "real" sports car if you get SPASM but without the PDCC. Even with that option the steering never wiggles forcefully in your hands at speed - but it certainly tells you all you would want to know (Thanks Mike, if you're reading this)...

That's the beauty of this car - with just a few configuration changes you can choose exactly what you want and like. It's addictive.
However, unless you have all variants available for extensive test drives, you are stuck with reading forums like these (quite informative if you dig a bit) and road tests (much less informative, unfortunately).
Also listen to those that have these cars, bum a ride, make sure your salesman knows he can only get rid of you if he calles somebody that can give meaningful answers to your pesky questions. Porsche clubs are also very good sources for help and information but be prepared for a lot of diagonally opposed opinions - just when you thought you had the answer somebody will come and tell you you don't.

Hi Rainier,
Thx for the reply. I test drove 911 s coupe, 911 s cab and base cab

I was satisifed with base cab and loved the PSE on S so i am interested in PSE. IMO cab drove as well as the Coupe and loved how good the cab provided draft free top down experience, credit goes to power rear wind deflector i guess

I am thinking of base 911 cab , pDK , Sport chrono if it provides a more sportier gear change, PSE and Addaptive seats

A) I was not sure what sport chrono does other than dynamic engine mounts and if the diff can be felt with the mounts on the street
B) 911 s coupe launch car had steering plus and i liked it but wanted to get feedback from owners like you who have that

I would get the "S" and forget the PSE. With a cab you get all the engine noise you want IMO.

The difference between sport and sport + is night and day, hence I would say if getting a pdk car u should get sport chrono before many of the other options.

I have an S MT with Sport+ and the steering+. Love the Sport+, frankly with a MT the sport button does not change much. I typically run in Sport+ all the time; the car is just to soft for me in normal mode. On that topic I do NOT like the steering+. The car is just to easy to steer; it feels like a Lexus at low speeds imo...

I also love the PSE and while my car did not come with it I'm already ordering one for installation. The 991 stock does sound good but I just love the PSE.

Agree with Tpup on the steering+, it does feel like a Lexus at very low speeds. Unfortunately not able to comment on the Sport and Sport + as I'm still in the break-in period.

With regard to your questions:
In 911 sport mode is standard , So
1) Does the Sport mode in 911 allow faster gear changes or just amore aggresive throttle?
1ans) In Sport mode the gear changes are faster than 997.2 sport mode but it also increases the gear change map to higher RPMs
2) Sport chrno gives dynamic mounts , can on feel the diff in street cornering etc?
2ans) My 997.2S idled very rough. My 991 with dynamic mounts idles VERY smooth.
3) I think Sport plus makes the shift firmer, Does 911 Sport chrono do anything to PDK shift speeds etc in sport/sport plus ?,
3ans) Shift maps are higher in sport / sport plus. Sport plus shifts at 7500 RPM at full throttle.
4) I test drive a 911 s coupe with Steering plus and it was light but still responsive, are folks gettng this option?
4ans) Steering plus steers like a Lexus at speeds below 25MPH.

Thanks chuck for the detailed reply

So looks like
A) Sport mode on PDK 991 allows for faster gear changes than sport mode on PDK 997.2 but SPort mode is STD on 991
B) I guess sport chrono gives
1) Sport plus in addition to Sport
2) DE mounts that give a smooth idle but it is supposed to enhance cornering , does it ?
3) Launch control and indicator of mode on steering wheel

Did i miss anything?

I see that suncoast offered a software update that enabled sport mode for 997 cars w/out sc.
It's basically a software update and sport button install.

Wonder if they'll do the same for 991?
