Escort radar detectors - Installed

I have never gone with a radar detector in any car I have driven, but I am convinced I need to in my car -- I get pulled over just for driving a loud yellow street legal race car, regardless of my speed.
I searched these forums and found threads endorsing the Escort 9500ci.
My question is,
Any difference between the 9500ci ($1700) and the 8500ci Plus + ZR4 laser shifter ($1249) or the 8500ci + ZR ($1000)?
Just looking for advice from people with experience and knowledge before I buy one.. Thanks in advance. Zach

8500ci with laser shifters in my 991. Detector behind front bumper. Detects all auto open retail front doors as well as police radar. Jams laser speed dectedtor. It is new. Doesn't have a rear laser like the 9500.

Saved my bacon a number of times.

V1 is great but need to add laser shifter.

I was running a V1 and 9500ic in the same car. I was a devout V1 user. The 9500ic is as good with 1% of the false alarms and laser shifting. Plus it is not on your windshield.

Thanks all for weighing in. Tonight I just bought the 8500ci plus and the laser shifters (2 front, 1 rear); will have the local Porsche dealer install it next Friday along with my first oil change.
