Help a Porsche noob with new 911 purchase!

I am a new member looking to buy my first Porsche - and have decided to go with the new 911 cab.

It sounds like ordering my car is the way to go - couple questions abt the process -

1 - when I order a car with the dealer, how long is the wait?
2 - am I expected to pay full MSRP or is there wiggle room? If so how does one negotiate it?
3 - how much money is due when I put in the order at the dealer?

Also, please give me your thoughts on the car I am planning to order. Keep in mind this is a car for fun tooling around the suburbs and will never see a track.

911 carrera cab
Black exterior
Two tone black/grey leather interior
Premium package plus
14 point seats
Carrera classic wheels or maybe sports design
Wheel spacers
Bose audio
Porsche exhaust
sport design steering wheel
Some other minor options

Thanks!

1. It depends. I ordered in April, car was born on May 30, delivered June 19.
2. There is about 10% mark up from invoice but there is probably more profit than that. I have heard everything from MSRP to Invoice. I'd aim for at least 6% - my strategy, never give them a number. Keep asking them for their best price. When they give it, don't accept that it's true. Keep at them, be respectful and be prepared to walk. I left a dealership because they refused to provide any price unless I was willing to tell them that I was ready to buy that day - actually I was but I was unwilling to surrender anything.
3. I gave a $5k deposit on my AMEX card.

Good luck, good hunting and remember, the car is worth the wait!

Welcome.
Thats a great build but I would suggest PASM, the 991 base looks better with the 10mm lower height and the ride is slightly more comfortable when in normal mode, with 20's its worth every penny imo.
I would take PASM over the 14way adjustable seats, Bose or sport exhaust.
I regret everyday not ordering it in my base, just my $0.2c

The wait will be about 4-6 months.

Nationwide discounts are being negotiated between 5-7% max. But in Texas I have heard much lower perhaps only 2-3% off MSRP.

great looking build, i just took delivery of mine 2 weeks ago. My thoughts...I went with MT, sport chrono, PDCC, bose, sport design wheels, and 18 way seats in full leather. I just got back from driving 5.5 hrs down and back (11 total) from Kiawah island for the PGA, and this was the most comfortable seat I have ever had in all my previous cars( S5, CLK 55, X5 4.8, 335is). I love the MT and have no problem with the Bose audio. In addition, I think PDCC is a must, i have played a litlle with handling in sport plus mode and I can't feel any body roll and have had no time when the car felt loose. I aslo have Black exterior in the cab and luxor biege interior, the choice of two-tone is excellent because i am getting some glare on the windshield with the beige. My '13 991 cab went into production late June, completed 7/6, delivered 7/28 at the delarship. Some movement on price but not a lot because i was getting an early '13.

Ordered mine in June - will be delivered September, delayed b/c sunroof

3.8% off sticker ($5k)

$1k on credit card when placing order and $10K when the factory confirms build.

They only agreed to the discount when I went and shopped the build to a few other dealerships. Be prepared to look around...

I would shoot for 3-5% discount. That means starting at 5-7%. I only put down $500, but the dealership has known me a long time.

Imo, If you like Carrera S wheels, I suggest the silk platinum silver finish, they look fantastic with a black exterior, otherwise Carrera classics looks great too, but thats a matter of personal preference, I dont like shiny wheels.
Yours will be one hot cab for sure!
I always get a 5.6% discount from my dealer on all my Porsche orders, but that is Brazil.
