991 vs 997.2 turbo

Hi ... Anyone have experience 991 vs 997.2 turbo. Both PDK

Definitely turbo has more power compared to 991S. But in terms of handling, I was told that new 991 is miles better over 997 turbo.

Would appreciAte some feedback from 991 owners. I currently driving 997.2 turbo but I'm thinking whether I should replace it with new 991.

I find 997 turbo very powerful & it's a blast to drive on the motorway. But on twisty roads, it is not so easy to handle. So, power is nothing without control!

Thank you

Hey - my quick few cents here - clearly disclaimer goes first that I'm not Walter Rohrl neither Stig - but I have driven both for two days on Porsche Leipzig test track - and the results are quite as expected - turbo would get away from you on the straight - but in the corner - you can clearly start pushing the gas pretty eariler on 991S than you can do on a turbo (that despite being 2WD instead of 4WD) - so I guess no point replacing 997 turbo with 991s - you wouldnt get much better performance clearly. It wud be probably abt same and even a bit worse.

So I wud say wait for 991 turbo next year and then likely go for it.

I'm not a turbo fan...so I'd say get a 991 4S with monstrous grip.

Same experience here, but different conclusion (and I attached a quick video illustrating our shared perception of the 997tt vs 991S).
I would personally not trade my 991S for a 997tt -and made a conscious decision to go for a 991S coming from a Cayman R a few months ago-.
The 991S is more refined, handles a lot better and its (lower) power is definitely more usable than the on/off behavior of the 997tt. Plus the RWD is a lot of fun.

By the way, my friend running the 997tt who also posts on this forum has a 991S on order.
No doubt that the 991 Turbo is gong to be a great car... but if you think about track performance, you'd rather go for the (probably) sooner to be released GT3. In the end, it is just a matter of personal preferences!

Any track driver will tell you 2S is much better than 4S. 4S is only better in the snow, and maybe the rain.

If you like fast acceleration off a light, get the Turbo. If you want better handling in the corners, get the 991. If you want both, wait for the GT3 or 991T

I have a mk6 Gti & audi s4 as daily drivers. Both are tuned up to stg2
Traded in my cayman s for 997.2 turboS. 911 turbo have always been my dream car. I must say that the power of 997 TS is fantastic but maybe the car is just too powerful for me to handle. I miss the agile, sharpness & crisp handling of my cayman.
I'm now in delima whether to trade in my 997 TS for new 991S or upgrade the suspension of the TS with kw clubsports to improve handling
Gt3 is not an option for me cause I do know how to drive manual. I do not track the car (maybe 1 time a year). I use it for weekend spirited road drive & cruise it on the highway.
Thx for the feedback & comments

My five cents here - I think KW is really something for a track usage - don't think you going to get a lot of joy on a daily use. And London/UK roads are not Eastern Europe - but no a German autobahn either. So for really nice road/cruise experience I would clearly go for 991S. It is a really balanced car - I think exactly something you;'re looking for

Totally agreed! My recent experience is very close to yours : MKVI GTI + B8 S4 (both APR Stage 2+, suspension upgrade, BBK, etc.) and then Cayman R that I traded in for the 991S. It's been repeated many times, but the great thing about the 991 is its dual personality : it can be a gt cruiser and a very agile sportscar. More composed and competent (overall, not in a straight line) than a 997tt.
Go for it
