991 protective film

Has anyone put a protective film on their 991 yet? I'm looking to do that and would like to get a quality film. How much does it run for anyway? I may just do the front but may do the whole car.
Some people say the get yellow over time. Is it true with high quality films?

Use Xpel.
Better than the original 3M because it doesn't "yellow" and there's no orange peel effect.
It also self heals in sunlight and is extremely clear.
I did my (Full) hood, fenders, mirrors, bumper, headlights and fog lights.
$1500 (included taxes)

No complaints but get a good installer.

I had it done and I highly recommend it. The product was the newest and most highly rated called xpel ultimate, I did the entire hood, front quarter panels, bumper, mirrors, headlights, and door handles. Cost was just south of 1500. The material is amazingly durable and having done the entire hood, you can't see any seams.

Completely agree. I do all my cars and already made an appointment for next week to do my 991. It is supposed to arrive at he dealer this week. The new Xpel Ultimate also has a self healing technology built into the film and is stain resistant. Xpel stands behind the product with a 10 year warranty (film and installation). Check out their website. . . http://www.xpel.com/products/xpel_ul...ction_film.asp

Definitely find an experienced, reputable installer.

Ditto. Expel entire front of the car to the windshield plus mirrors. My installer wrapped it around the edges. Had it on the car for over 2 years no yellowing. Protected perfectly.

I would start here http://www.xpel.com/products/dealersearch.asp
Then I would review the individual businesses listed in your area and ask for references this or other boards.
Good luck.

How do you wax the car with all the clear film? I too did entire front and whole hood, parts of fenders etc. do you simply wax over the clear film? I'm afraid it would haze, no?

Premier did my bumper since I wasnt happy with the dealer applied film. They did a 1piece seamless job and its perfect. I would send pics but it just looks like nothing is there!

My technician recommended the NXT tech 2.0, or other non "cleaner -wax combos". He also said the maguires quick detailer is good and safe. I have used the 2.0 on mine and it does great, just let it completely dry and what you can't buff out, go back over with the quick detailer.

I had a similar clear bra on my BMW and was afraid to wax it and it did get a slight dull appearance after a while. After I treated it with the 2.0 it really popped.
