Oh that moon is bright - too much glare

I generally love my 991. I have posted my few concerns in the past: low-end torque, wind buffetting with the windows open at speed and interior rattles. I need to add one to that - light glare. I don't know if it is just the red interior (I still love it), or the combination of the angle and size of the window and the slope of the dash, but at times, glare is a real porblem, even when the sun is high overhead.

I would like to do some window tint. But, in NJ, that is a no no. You can get pulled over and/or ticketed for windows that are two dark - fear not out-of-staters, they can only do it to people with NJ plates - it is a commerce clause violation if they do it to anyone else. There is some amount of tinting that is allowed. Does anyone know what is legal in NJ?
Thanks.

I've always had 35% tints and never had much of a problem. I got stopped once in Red Bank for tints and the officer actually pulled out a device that measures the amount of light that goes through the window, and it passed. I guess 35% is the magic number.

I can't help thinking that the only thing that's going to solve this problem is a "conditioner" for the dash that makes it a "matte" finish instead of a "wet" finish.

I was thinking something similar... as Chuck.
How about getting the dash done in black leather or an alcantara type texture...

Thanks for the 35% number and for the conditioner idea. The dash is not that wet looking. And a big part of the problem is the very large front window and it's angle more than the leather. Black would have absorbed more than red. Another problem is the metal in the interior. The trim around the PDK shifter, for some reason, is particularly poorly placed and angled - it directs light right into your face. It looks great, but. I am considering replacing it and any other interior trim I can with carbon fiber.

Thanks to you all for your helpful advice.

RainX makes an anti fog that you apply to the inside of the windshield, I wonder if this would help or hinder.

Good idea here. Just cleaning the inside of the windshield where a hazy film often builds up can cause really bad reflections.

How about sun-glasses?....do you wear them? Are they true polarized lenses?, if not, these may help a lot. Maybe just trying some different/darker ones may help.

I don't think there is much you can do with the red leather,....awesome color, just on the brighter side.

I'll bet you can get a matte finish paint protection material that could be applied to the inside of the windshield. I wonder if that would keep the vision and reduce the glare. It sure would be easy to try.

Duck for, "Cover..."

I got a really great idea...How about a Dash cover? It will totally Block the sun...

Lol, I couldn't resist...

This guy knows about Alcantara Wrapping, he might have some ideas about leather or Alcantara wrap on your dash.
