Anyone ever Lemon their car? (UPDATED 10.12.12 with info from Porsche NA)
I have an early build 991 Base Cabriolet and it has caused me nothing but problems. It has been in the shop 5 times since I took delivery in May and the last time it was in there it took 3 days and the same problems keep reoccurring.
The two main issues are: Interim service light keeps coming on and the key (easy and entry and drive) doesn't get recognized causing either the alarm to go off or the car doesn't unlock or turn on.
I've had enough and while the issues are technical, they can't seem to come up with a permanent fix.
Any advice?

I don't understand why they have not been able to fix the two main issues you have mentioned. They are not trying hard enough or not doing a drastic enough repair to get rid of the problems. Just pressure them more to fix it, they can, get porsche NA involved if you haven't already.
I don't think a lemon law will help you based on what you have described.

have they replaced the wiring harness? I've also had an issue with entry and my delaer replaced sensor, ecu, then finally the main wiring harness. it looks ok now. it took 4-5 different visits and i was frustrated as you are now.

Google the lemon law in your state. I did LL a SUV a few years back in GA, it was easy and GM wrote me a check for 98% of the purchase price 3 years after I bought the truck. They just could not fix it.
Each state is different, some on based on repair attempts, some are based on days off the road. Keep all docs, insist on docs if they don't give you one (I had the dealer try that, "there's no repair order on this one sir!"). Check the laws where you are.
Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies. Going to speak with the rep soon to discuss and will outline some of the fixes Tachyon mentioned. Going to burn a call in to Porsche NA tomorrow to start the process in the event this happens again. I simply don't have the time to bring the car in once a month and they aren't open on weekends making matters worse.

Never done one personally by my lawyer has performed 4 recently with success. A VW, Jag, Benz and forget the other. If you need a referral PM me, his office is in the OC.
Ive found dealing with local OC dealers they are terrible at putting effort into fixing vs. an actual nagging problem existing on the car. Still, no excuse and does not shield them from your legal rights if attempts have been made to fix.

Just ordered a new 911. First time buyer of a Porsche. After reading this thread and others regarding headliner rattles, brake noise, replaced transmissions, etc etc, I am a little nervous about my 100k investment. Hope I have better luck with mine.

It is a great car and I believe that Porsche will do the right thing. They live on repeat business.

As for your nervousness, every manufacturer makes a bad car once in a while, but overall porsches are very reliable compared to its industry competitors.

Called Porsche NA this morning and explained the reoccurring issues and the lead tech from my service department gave me a call and both said they are going to get the regional guy involved. Hopefully they come up with a solution because this is the last shot i'm giving it.
