Please post pictures after you picked up your car, I really want to see some real pictures of white and (black) glass roof. Thanks and congrats!

The only downside is that you CANNOT get the 14-way seat with black PDLS, why??!!! No one knows... I guess they figure if you want the black light, you probably the type who want the sport seat plus??!!! And... this is the only thing I have a bit doubt about my configuration... I only opt'd the sport seat plus, the 18-way version is another $3000+ option ... I figure I am probably the only one driving the car, memory seating and manual slider isn't too important... but the adjustable lumber support I would love to have . (I still can't get over the fact that a $122,000 car with $$ seat & leather option would come with a manual slider & no standard memory )
I just hope I won't regret picking the black PDLS and giving up the more "comfort" 14-way seat... but the sport seat plus does look sportier with the silver back and shoulder pad.

There is simply not that much difference in looks between the normal non-PDLS light and the so called "black" PDLS light. The configurator over does it quite a bit.
First pix is non-PDLS lights, second one has PDLS lights. The difference is pretty subtle,...just the inside housing is a bit darker (medium grey, not black). If you like everything about PDLS then get it,....if not you may want to skip and get something you want instead,...like the 14-way seats you speak of.
I wouldn't spend $1500 on PDLs just for the so called "black" look. It's not very noticeable in real life.

Well I guess my confusion is that the Premium Plus package comes with the PDLS but not with the black tint. That black tinted PDLS is only available if you don't take either Premium package. You'd figure that's a personal preference and an option as long as you have PDLS. But it's not. Go figure.
I have compared them at my dealer,....a 991s with PDLS that came with the premium package has the slightly darker headlights,....and then there was another 991s with no premium package and no separate PDLS option that had the "regular" lights.
As I said,...in daylight there is really not that much difference between the two,....most people would not even notice it.

Unless your dealer knows otherwise,.....all PDLS lights come with the "black" tint,....(really grey). So if you get PDLS within a package or separate they are the same with the slightly darker housing and headlight washers.

Ok this actually makes sense. That's why the the black PDLS and premium packages can't co-exist, because the PDLS inside the premium is the same black version... although then the description in the black PDLS is misleading because it seems to suggest it's the same functionality but has a tint. Anyhow, good to know. Thanks!
Again, great order. Looking forward to seeing it in the future...

the outside casing where normally grey, it's black. I agree the inside housing isn't much different, both pretty much black. But, where the chromes are on the normal PDLS, the "black" one has more black parts, not nearly as much chrome as the normal one.
Yes, the configurator may be over done a bit, but I think it should be close. Compare the 2 on the configurator, it surely shows a big different. Moreover, the "black" PLDS is from the "Exclusive" option line, another sign that the 2 are different... but I could be wrong... I guess we will see in December.

Well, perhaps my dealer was wrong (very possible) that he ensured me that the "black" PLDS is different then the PLDS came with the package. He showed me the older porsche which had the "black" light...

I too was looking at getting the PDLS in black but much like you I just couldn't get over having a handle for the seat on a 150K+ ride.
That said, everyone is right...
Here's why, the early produced 991's both PDLS and non-PDLS had light-gray/silver headlight reflectors in the housing but on the more recent once the PDLS has about 70% of it's reflector parts in black.
But the earlier AND newer non-PDLS are all still in gray/silver (0% elements in black).
On the PDLS in black almost ALL the reflector and housing elements are in black (100%) including the ring on the outside of the headlight.
I decided that the PDLS with partial blackout is "mean" enough for me (if I can't have 14 way seats as well)... but the "PDLS in black" is much more stealth looking for sure.
That's going be one amazing looking ride!
Can't wait to see some pics, hint, hint.
Enjoy!

Thanks for clarifying that!
May I ask about the seats... let's put the memory & manual slider aside, just the seats themselves... what's the comfort level difference? I mean does the Sport Plus really feel different than the 14-way? In a long term, you think I will regard about the seats? Does anyone here have the Sport Plus (non-18-way) seats here to share your opinions? TIA.
#30
The 18 way seats definitely hug you and are very comfortable. Only real downside is getting in and out of them (still not that bad at all). But I would personally not get them if they were not powered, only because the 18 way lets you adjust the bolstering on the hips and shoulders. I'm not sure how tight the manual plus seats are, but being able to make things tight during sporty driving to open and relaxed during regular driving is a big plus. The 14 way seats are still amazing, and ended up ordering them instead after a lot of going back and forth (if it was just me driving the car, I would have gotten the 18 way)
Remember, you can always just get your headlight housing painted by a third party, maybe even with a slight dash of red.
