Update
I just wanted to give you all a quick update, although it's not much I got right now. Apparently there is a problem with the vacuum in cylinder #5 and both PNA and Germany is now involved.
Porsche encourage you to track your car at HPDE events, the cars are build for this and that is also why the warranty is covering everything. I'm pretty sure that my downshift didn't cause the revs to go above 8000 rpm and therefore PDK allowed me to do the shift and overrev never kicked in.
I'll keep you all posted as soon as I receive news from the dealer.

Good luck. I'm sure PNA won't tell you that you are out of luck for tracking it.

agreed. however, track events can void warranties. depends on situation. dirty little secret of auto manufacturers. i have litigated the matter 14 times, including with PNA. this topic is well covered in other posts. do a search.

You said it, depends on the situation.

In a nutshell, for a Porsche under warranty:
(1) If the car broke, Porsche pays.
(2) If you broke the car, you pay.
Simple, yet complicated.

Lawdawg97:
I feel for opnielsen because I did the same thing going around a tight corner where I meant to go to 2nd, but accidentally went to 1st. Fortunately for me it only went to 6000, but it taught me to look at the gear instead of just assuming I was in 3rd. I'm sure they can tell exactly what happened by looking at the recorded data, but I also hope they understand that while the PDK provides some excellent performance capabilities, it does not provide the tactile feel we are used to by having our hand at a particular gearshift position. And have adjusted for that by locking out a requested downshift if it will cause an overspeed.
Again, thanks for your good work.

Update 2
Porsche is flying a couple of techs from Germany over next week to have a look at the problem, outcome will most likely be engine switch.
Hennessy Porsche is taking really good care of me and I can't thank them enough, they keep me informed at all time, and I actually find it interesting to be involved at this level, sure I miss the car, but hey I learn a lot about the engineering of the car, and I'm told that I will get good compensated
I also asked Hennessy to give me another loaner since I already have a Cayenne in the garage, and sure enough they also fulfilled that wish, so I'm now driving a white Panamera. At the end of the day we are all blessed for being able to drive such wonderful cars.
I'll keep you posted!

Count the days in the shop and know the lemon laws for your state. I don't feel that it would be inappropriate to request a new car while driving the 991 with the new engine.
In Colorado the LL is 4 services for same problem or 30 days in the shop. I made in known from day 1 that if we came close to those requirements I'd be getting an attorney. At 23 days in the shop and just then figuring out I needed a new engine in my v8 touareg, VW voluntarily called to ask what I wanted, a new car or a buy back. Be polite, strong and clear. It will all work out in the end.

I went through the LL process on a Honda and I used the arbitration method. Most states allow (or mandate) this as the first step. In my opinion, this is by far the best because if you loose, you can move on to the court step. And if the company looses with the arbitration process, it can not appeal. If the court approach is used first and you win, the company can appeal and the chances of not winning or getting postponed forever is great.
