Red light camera ticket

Here is a random and out of place question, I would post it under insurance but that area isn't very active . Anyone here has first hand experience on this in Northern California? Does it add point your insurance? I search the web and the answer is more confusing than helping.

Typically it does not add points to your record, but those are fairly easy to get out of if you play smart

Are you aware that some Escort and Bell Radar detectors warn of red light and speed Cameras?

Where are there red light cameras in northern CA? I never ever ever run them, but just curious because I don't recall seeing any in the Bay Area.

Plenty of them in the Bay Area.. this one has an interactive map of all of them if you are interested: http://www.photoenforced.com/nocal.html#.UOcEDYnjlic

Also, if you use the "waze" application on your phone it will inform you when you are approaching a red ligh camera...

In Texas it's cosidered a non-moving violation. Because of this, you only have to pay a fine and nothing is reported to insurance (FYI: my brother is a police officer)

Have had one of these in the Bay Area. it's the same as a regular moving violation. in 2 weeks you'll get a photo of yourself in the mail, showing you in the intersection after the light is red. you're guilty!

you can do online traffic school to remove the point, insurance stays the same. or if you've done traffic school recently, you keep the point and pay more to insurance.

either way you owe the gov ~$300 for the time and inconvenience

Very interesting. There are apparently 4 of them surrounding my work and I haven't noticed them. I'll take a look. Again, I'm the sort of person that would rather jam on my breaks than run a yellow. Breaking is fun, as long as the person behind you isn't too close.

Can't help you with red light questions but if you got the ticket in Alameda county and it will be adjudicated at the court house in Fremont give Lee Mezzetti's office a call. He may be able to help you. I've used him in the past for a speeding ticket.
