how to pronounce/say 991

newbie question, couldn't find anything in the search...
911 is "nine eleven". is 991 "nine ninety one" or "nine nine one"?

nine eleven, but when speaking to Porsche guys you might refer to the nine nine one (the model designation).

991 is very confusing to most people. I was expecting 998 but don't see a 999 . It is the chassis code/designation. What is next? The 2018-911-993?

We already had the 993 chassis code.

The rationale for 991 was supposed to be used to keep the subcontractors from knowing they were working on the next gen 911.

I'll bet that's exactly what Porsche is going to do!
The 997 gen. (. and .2) ran 8 years Porsche has said that the 991 will run 10 years to help offsetting the new gen. production costs...
So lets say this VW philosophy is applied to the 992 as well and that runs for 10 years as well... that makes it 2032 by the time the 993 comes out.

I don't think there will be enough running original 993's left on the road to cause a confusion.
Porsche made it clear that as far as they are concerned the 991 is the first of a new era hence starting over at designation 1 rather than continue with 998.

So aside from the 2018 I think right you're on the money with your hypothesis.

Now you are depressing me , I will be in my 70s by 2032, can I still climb in and out of a 911? Can you imagine the price of the original 993 turboS in 2032? 993 is till my all time favorite body design, now that we totally derail this post.

Hahaha by that time the "cars" probably won't have wheels but be levitated and run on ion propulsion units.

Nine-nine-one; the seventh-generation Nine-eleven.

I just turned sixty-six and still jump in and out of the car. But I did work out for most of my life, and continue to do so. I guess it's a Marine Corps thing. LOL
