I assume the addictive snap-crackle-pop on the overrun with sport exhaust is software controlled. If so, can't an ECU tune add some duration and/or intensity to this? I'd prefer that it be a little longer or even continuous (just in sport plus) on the overrun personally.

I have a street/drag bike (Harley Davidson) and when you throttle down it sounds (kinda) like a MAC truck slowing down on the gears... that would be amazing if the 991 could be programed to do the same.
Those pops and crackles are just intoxicating!
I think the reason they don't have it now is because it would effect the gas mileage but other than that I don't see why a aftermarket Co. could not.
Great idea!

i can buy the OEM sport exhaust and there is no software flash as part of the package so i would think u r wrong otherwise Porsche would have to include the caution that the sound experienced would differ from an in factory install.

I think you are incorrect. It needs to be "activated" which sound like initiating a piece of software. I doubt you can change it but it is there.

When a PSE gets installed after the fact it does come with the appropriate software update.
However the ECU program which makes the biggest difference on the exhaust come with sport chrono (sport+ switch)... as it specifically changes the throttle mapping, ignition time, air intake, Helmholtz resonator flap operation and purposefully creates excess unburned fuel on the over runs etc. which (when ignited) in turn creates that growling, burling and popping sound.
Hence an aftermarket Co. should be able to extent this duration of puposely skipping of the ignition/creations of unburned gas to give us more of that awesome sound.
the question is which company will do this... because most whom create ECU flashes do so to increase performance this is pure for the joy of the visceral experience this particular sound bring with it.
Most whom spend their $$ on ECU updates will frown on just "sounding faster".
I would get it just for the sound, but I get frowned on quiet often.
