Forgot to ask. How many hours did the dealership charge for the conversion?

Apologies for the ignorance Chupacabra, but I am a little confused the X51 comes with PSE? The reason I ask is that you mention the noise... Is it the PSE noise or does the X51 addition accentuate the PSE?

I am getting PSE and not X51. Wanted to know if there is a significant difference with X51. Please submit some sound bites for us... Also pics...

Thanks for the heads up. They set aside 40 hours for the installation. I was able to look at most of the install instructions yesterday, all 31 pages. All black and white with few if any references regarding where items went. The Tech did his best and things worked great as he tested it. He did not drive it far enough to encounter any issues. I'm glad to be a guinea pig!

No problem with the confusion. It is easy to understand why you got confused. The power upgrade comes with the Porsche Sport Exhaust, third radiator, Sport Chrono Package (if ordering during car creation it seems), tailpipes, and the engine upgrade. Which isn't too bad price wise as it cuts almost $6k off the price of the package since it comes with the other options as standard.

So the Sport Exhaust I am hearing would be the same as what you ordered, but I apparently did not receive the button to turn it off.

Now I could be completely wrong here as I am no tech. I was also under the assumption I would receive an extra Sport Chrono Package too. So if someone else knows more, please say something.

When its all finalized I will post audio/video clips of a launch or something.

Wow, seeing all of those parts on the floor made me giggle.

BTW what is the third radiator for?

Porsche assumes, if you have the X51 you are going to push the car harder/longer so install extra coolingis warranted. I understand normal "S"s when shipped to the Mid East and probably a few other "warm" countries also get the 3rd radiator.

Thanks. So is it just engine cooling? In the 997.2 I thought the center radiator was for PDK, yes?

Sorry can't help on the 997.2 as I have no experience with that model.

In looking at the Porsche publication "Service Information, 2012 Technik Introduction" for the 991 and 991S they only mention "An additional center radiator is available as optional equipment for extremely hot countries".

This publication predates the X51 announcement and production. No mention of the 3rd radiator having anything to do with PDK and drawings don't show any connection either.

Everything I've seen and heard refers to greater cooling for the engine. Especially at higher speeds or temperatures. Much like what snowczar said.

One guy locally had a third radiator installed on his 997, and he drives manual. He claims it lets the engine run better and longer.

Pic Heavy! Part 1

Here are the photos on the install and the Parts list as well.
Moderators, if anything is posted that is not authorized, let me know... i.e. Porsche forms in the second post

Thanks Chup!

Using my untrained eye it does look like this upgrade is substantial. It does also give confidence that the shop looks very organized.

Good luck and looking forward to your thoughts on the feel of the car compared to before.

When ya see it like that the word "NUTS!!" comes to mind hahahaha.
No kidding i though the same thing as 998M... well there's you problem!

I love how that 6+1 valved aluminum air-intake looks, very sexy!
BTW if you're not reusing the stock exhaust I'm still looking for a set of extra valves for my custom exhaust set up.
Let me know if you'd be interested in having those cut off and selling them to me.

You're a wild man!
I may just have to follow in your foot steps...
Awesome posts!

Oh BTW with the 996 and 997 the X package came with a special oil cover which had multiple compartments stopping the oil from slushing from side to side and making sure it was never empty on hard cornering... does the X-51 package come with this as well?
