Does anyone know how to check if a 991 has the 40GB HardDiskDrive installed, or if it can be unlocked for use?

The reason I ask is yesterday I had a 2013 Boxter loan car - under the 'source' menu it listed 'Jukebox' I'd never seen that before on my 991. Naturally I want it! it plays music stored on the Car's Hard Disk, a 40GB HDD and shows album artwork. i definately want that!

The Boxster PCM was v4.3, mine is v3.41 so obviously that needs upgrading - Porsche Main Dealer say they can't upgrade it (yet) so I'm curious to see if I have the hardware already, ready in case I do the software update.

Would be typical that Porsche fit the hardware, and only release the software when its fully tested. But i don't know how to check if i have the HDD. Thanks

 

Pretty sure I was told the jukebox was coming out on 2013 models. I don't have my car yet, hopefully a couple of weeks but I expect to have it on my car. I asked the dealer and they said I had it, so we will see.
So might depend on when your car was born.

 

I have it in my car along with online services. I think HDD is only on 2013 MY along with it so it cannot be upgraded.

 

Mine was built October 2012. Would be interested to know what version PCM you have Fester?

 

The original information is that Porsche was trying to get this organized for December and later production. Not sure whether they got there or not.

Will find out when my January 18 production car makes its way to Canada.

I checked with my sales guy, he says they just started including the Jukebox feature. And I missed it since it was built early January. Hopefully his info is not accurate and I end up having it, should know in a few weeks.

 

Oh, he also mentioned it is an option you would have to order.

 

I could have missed it but I just looked in the configurator and I couldn't find an option for it anywhere.

 

I looked too and couldn't find it, or any evidence on the website that it is available standard or option. Incidentally in the Good to know app, the JukeBox is included and explained.

 

My car was ordered in Nov and built in Jan and I was assured it had the option and I did not check any box in the build to get it. Now if it is actually on my car, well guess ill have to wait and see when it gets here......

 

At a minimum at will have the USB interface and you can hookup a portable 1000GB external hard drive or 160GB iPod. It will read the ID3 tags from the tracks. Ironically the USB drive is also how one would transfer music to the internal Jukebox if present.

 

I have a December 15 (completion date) build C2, and I have the Jukebox. I didn't even know it was there until my sales guy mentioned it as an aside while doing the phone Bluetooth setup. Cool, need to take a couple of hours to load it up. I'd think your car will have it as well.

 

Its standard on all 2013 models.

 

It would be interesting to know whether this is just a partition on the HD used for nav data. And then of course whether it can be retro'd thru a PCM update...

 

It is not on my 2013 2SC.
