New Car Delivered: Horror story of out of state delivery
#17
Thanks Speeddemon. The dealer said they loaded it on the truck clean and perfect. Since its out of state, I don't know how I could not accept it
I'm talking with the dealer, so I'll hold off on putting their name out there.
I couldn't find anything on "dealer riot act" on google, any pointers?

Shipping
that is unfortunate, I can understand your disappointment seeing it arrive in that condition and then having the driver pouring bottled over it as he rubbed on the dirt with his hands.
I had mine shipped from cali to Vancouver canada enlcosed and the driver did a really good job and I could tell he took pride in his job. The car was nice and good to go and it was my first Porsche and the first impression was great.
Get it detailed at the best place u can find and it should be fine. If the dealership arranged the shipping they will pay for it probably.

Sorry but if any scratches were put there by the driver running his hand over the car - I really cannot see how deep they could be. As stated, nothing that likely could not be detailed out by a pro.
Sure, I believe you should complain and try to at least split the cost with the seller or the trucking company.
Are you sure that there were not swirl marks prior to the car being shipped?
Did you choose the trucking company?
Come on now - listen to yourself and what you are complaining about. No it is not 'the perfect delivery', but this is nothing to lose any sleep over.
You make it sounds like your car is ruined. It's not like someone took a hammer to it.
Relax bud - otherwise you might have a heart attack when you get your first door ding.
Best of luck.

I too had a mixed delivery experience. The dealer tried to wash off a couple of scratches on the car, and really scuffed up the paint. The wax job on the car hid the paint damage so I didn't really note it during delivery, but it came out big time after my first home wash. I have an area on my hood (about 4" x 2") that is just one big dull spot due to the fine stratches where someone pushed too hard to rub out the scratch.
I intend to get a professional detail once Spring rolls around. I am fairly confident that it will be fixed. Still a bit annoying, tho.
That said, it doesn't impact the driving experience one bit. This is a great car!

Sorry to hear that OP, I really do feel for you because its the experience when purchasing a car like this for the first time makes it all the more disappointing. Been there and have the T-shirt. I am not going to give advice on what you should have done because that is irrelevant now.
As most of the posts have stated, get her detailed and this feeling will be in the rear view mirror before you know it... When you have sorted her please post some more pictures!!! Beneath the dirt she looks gorgeous
Congrats and happy driving!

That's a real bummer! I feel for you. It may well be worth naming and shaming the transporter either publicly or to the dealer. You may be able to save a fellow enthusiast suffering a similar experience.
Yup, agree with ae911 and others. Get the car detailed and put the delivery event behind you. The car will be gleaming in all its glory before you know it and then you can really enjoy it.

Hold payment. Hmmmm.
You're thinking that the truck with the $100,000 car just showed up in front of his house, but he hadn't yet paid the out-of-state dealer for it? A COD deal?
Interesting idea.

I own a transport brokerage... trust me man... i've got real horror stories to share. But I am surprised he was wiping down the car with his hand. Some guys might spray off a car with water if it got dusty but most won't touch the paint (especially on a nice new car) for fear of putting marks into it.
Real horror stories are when the truck gets clipped by a train at a crossing carrying new mercedes prototypes... try explaining that one to the insurance company.
She looks like she'll be gorgeous with a quick detail. Enjoy it in good health!

Honestly I'd just get a quote from a reputable detailer who does paint correction and have the dealer pay for it, shouldn't be a big deal.
