new Porsche Cayman any day over 911

I should also say that 25 years ago, when my daughter was in a car seat, the 911 was the absolute best choice as far as I was concerned. Nice to see that we still take our little ones along and give them the thrill of a 911. Unfortunately, it didn't "take" in my case. Fast forward to today and my beautiful daughter thinks her Prius is a terrific car.
+1.

How unfortunate.

Purely in the interest of an unbiased opinion if any member will loan me a new Cayman and a new 911 for a year I will rotate driving them and provide a clearly unbiased opinion. Absolutely no charge.

Sorry, not so "exceptional. I'm a (very) long time 911 owner (15 of them) who is without one now - tried something different with the R8, which I really like. I continue to participate on this board since I'll undoubtedly be back in the "fold" in the near future (i.e., when I get bored with the R8) - besides, there are alot of great guys on this board and interesting posts!

I say 1% for track or performance driving because I drive my car maybe 4-5 times per week or 200 times per year.
I live in a populated area so I don't drive it particularly fast around corners (most of the time) during those 200 times per year.
I might (I haven't yet as I just broke-in the car) go to a track day a couple of times a year.
That is 1%.
I don't believe most (not all) 911 owners do much more.

I agree..and it's unfortunate.

I respect any person's decision with regards to picking their "dream car", be it a Boxster, Cayman or 911, and I am sure that all of them are thrilling rides, and it would be pretentious to say the contrary; but a fact is that Porsche is synonymous to 911. I will bet that 99.99% of people think about a 911 when hearing "Porsche". That is the definition of "dream car" for me.

Yet, 99% of those same people couldn't distinguish a 987 from a 911.

Iambon, ReconTrojan, totally agree on both counts! Sorry for being naive.
