Steering wheel differences

I'm deciding between the standard sport steering wheel vs the sportdesign wheel for my MT 991S build. The interior will be black, with the carbon fiber package. Is there a difference in the wheel grip thickness between the 2 wheels?

Thanks.

I believe there is a difference in Grip, I have the sport design wheel on my base 991 and seems to be thicker then the other wheels. However with the carbon fiber the sport wheel may look better due to the lack of metal on it.

If your car will have PDK then you get the paddle shifting with the Sport Design wheel which in my opinion is better. I've tried/driven both the "button" shifting 991 and Paddle shifting and far prefer the paddles. Especially as my 996 TT Cab Tip has had the paddle shifting installed and so does my BMW 650i Cab.

That is exactly what I am thinking. For one, I am concerned that the metal on the sportdesign wheel may not go that well with the black and carbon fiber interior. If the grip is actually thicker on the sportdesign wheel, though, I may go that direction anyways.

I think the Sport Design steering wheel is worth it just to get the paddle shifters. I love mine.

I could understand that, but I'm going with the manual transmission. I guess my point is that if the grip thicknesses are the same between the 2 wheels, I will likely go with the standard sport wheel to avoid the possibility of color clashing between the wheel metal and the carbon fiber trim.

I was set on the multi-function wheel until I actually went down the dealer and tried both wheels. For me there was no contest, the Sport Design wheel was much more comfortable and felt a little thicker, although I could just be imagining that part. Mine is also a MT, so the paddles were not a consideration. I can't comment on how it will look, but IMO carbon fiber and silver look fine together.

Thank you. I've been leaning towards the Sport Design. I haven't felt it, but it LOOKS a little thicker. I guess this just gives me a reason to go visit the dealer again!!
