I have it on my SC manual... It is the only way to go. It also gives you an outlet and looks way better than a hole...

I've had my MT for a month now, have never had it pop open on its own, and I think it looks much cleaner with the cover.

The other bit is that I use it for the battery tender - not sure if any of the other power plugs are suitable, but the cigarette lighter doesn't get switched off when the car is off, so it works perfectly for that as well. (IIRC, someone mentioned the other power plugs turn off and they had to hook their tender directly to the battery.)

I would be very interested to see if anyone has retrofitted this. And if so what is the cost.

I think this is the part. $175. Of course, I have no idea if the electrical connection for the outlet is there for cars with the tray (like mine).

http://sonnenporscheoemparts.com/par...ponent=Ashtray

Amusingly enough, Suncoast sells the tray for $30.

I didn't get it coz my salesman said it isn't necessary, even the smokers are not getting it.

Anyway I usually place my key fob in the open space (don't like to keep it in my pocket) and occasionally a coin or two. I am surprised the key stays in place despite the g forces during spirited driving.

Same with me....amazing little ****pit handy storage space and even the console storage lid opens from the right, to the rear. I'm becoming a contortionist quickly.

Didn't research it enough and just saw the word "smokers" and looked no further.
