Sad News...Gary Sims (Simsgw) has passed away.

I saw this notice on rennlist posted.

"...It is with deep sorrow that I report that Gary (simsgw) passed away the weekend of Feb 16/17...."

Gary was a gentleman and was very generous with his time. Giving very detailed answers. He last car was the 991.

May he rest in peace.

Mike -- thanks much for letting us know.

I'm truly saddened by this. I had never met Gary in person but he was an extremely generous mentor to me by personal email when I was getting my track legs and I learned more valuable info from him than anyone. He was a great resource for separating science from hype.

Cars aside, he also had a heck of a life story, very accomplished engineering and academic. And his love and devotion to his family and wife Cindy was also very clear and inspiring.

We are all better people and drivers for knowing him.

RIP

This is very sad news. I always looked forward to Gary's posts and his great insights. His enthusiasm towards Porsche and cars in general was exemplary as well as his posts. May he rests in eternal peace!
