Help! Clear bra installation problem. Advice?
Hello all.
Recently got Xpel Ultimate clear bra put on the hood and front bumper. They specifically described to process to be a fully custom cut and installation and that I would not be able to see the cut off lines.
Images 1 and 2 are shots of my dash before and after installation. I am one of those who really follow break in period, and am pissed to see .67G was reached, which is damn near if not flooring it. I assume to redline. Car was also driven .4 miles, even though it should have only been driven about 100 feet max to go into the shop.
Image 3 is a close up of the front bumper. Ignore that one white line underneath the poorly cut clear bra. Should it be like that?
Image 4 are some bubbles, but the guy said it would clear up in a day or two, if not bring it back.
Image 5 is right underneath where the side intake (for the radiator) meets the center plastic piece. That little triangle outline is where there is no clearbra. Is that normal?
I couldn't talk to any manager in person because he was gone today, but I sent him several texts and a voice mail explaining my frustration with the situation.
What should I do? Have them remove the front bumper clear bra and reinstall? What should I do about the high G readings? Have him install tint or something for free if that's even possible?
Its like you're going out with a girl and she says you have to wait after 2000 dates until you can have sex, and that at 1000 dates, another guy comes in and gives it to her hard..
Oh and I paid 1100USD.

That's definitely not the greatest install, but I've seen worse. I would get the parts you're unhappy with fixed first before you pay.

I just checked my clear bra and the cut outs appear to be the same on mine. I have a white car, so it may be harder to see the lines, but the cut appears to be the same. As for the bubbles, they should disappear, although it may take longer than 2 days. I had multiple bubbles in my clear bra and it took about a week for all or most to go away, but I had my car in the garage. Day after day, you should see the bubbles getting smaller and smaller. If you keep the car out in the sun, it should clear up faster. If it doesn't definitely take it back. As for the apparent joyriding, I'd try to get a refund or something. That sure does not seem right.

Have the dealer pull the computer files fromthe car showing the revs, max speed and other data. Then I suggest that you take the car back with the title and key and explain that they are the proud new owners of a 991. Tell them you want a cashiers check.

Realistically though. How much should I be compensated for such a thing? I ask myself, how much would a stranger have to pay me to rev the car like that for just one time. $300? I'm not sure. Should I have them install a ceramic tint for free? What would you guys demand for such a thing?
They're going to fix the poorly cut seam on the bumper, and the owner of the shop told me to come in because he wants to 'make things right'.

Free. Have him fix it and refund what you paid. His employees "stole" from you. It's a breach of trust.

They drove it .4 of a mile OMG the car is ruined. Get real. You want to sell it cheap Ill buy it .
Every car I have had that I have bought new in the last 50 years over 7 of them I have red lined from the get go. Never had any problems most I kept over 10 years. Relax and let them fix your film I'm sure they will.

Did you get that 1G with launch control? Or just flooring it regularly? It just sucks because I haven't even gotten .7G (I'm really a stickler for this break in stuff), I have gotten 1.3 lateral though!

I honesty don't remember it was a few months ago. I just remember there was a break in the horrible winter weather in the northeast and I took full advantage
I wouldn't get bent out of shape over the mileage or the acceleration - I'm sure they will make up for it. Many years ago, I brought my SL500 for service and left it with the dealership over the weekend. While I was in the loaner, I saw MY OWN CAR driving on the parkway at 10pm. One of the service guys took it for a night out I could say I was angry, but that would be an understatement. I've also heard of a BMW dealership that crashed a customers car while legitimately taking it for a spin after changing the tires. So, things could have been MUCH worse for you. Besides, you still have a dreamy 991, albeit with 4 tenth more mileage

Sorry to hear about your experience, I know how frustrating it must be. They certainly need to fix the job, that was sloppy. I completely agree that you need to have them pull the data to see if launch control was used or excessive RPM was reached. You deserve compensation for that (whatever you can negotiate based on what they did).
