hard to find people who do it right, but do you tip them or does it make you a ******? opinions?

 

They don't make a lot of money and they work long hours to make things right with cars that I happen to value tremendously . I don't even understand why you would question it .

If you don't wish to tip them .. then don't . It doesn't make you an "a******" " if you do or if you don't .

I do, always. Usually $50 at a time. I always get the appt I want and a nice clean loaner. In addition, my repairs/service are completed properly and promptly.

 

Since we are OT about tipping, what's the appropriate tip to give a valet so that you can self-park up front and keep the key?

 

It depends where you are. Some places (high end restaurant, club, etc.) will cost you at least $100 if not more. Other places $10-$20 will do the trick.

I was at a Revel in Atlantic City, valet wanted $200 to park up front and he keeps the keys.

 

Eek. Crazy money.

 

I always tip the master tech. They install all my mods with no hassle, and let me hang out right next to them during the install... dealing with my annoying questions - that is a lot of extra work.

 

I send food gifts during Xmas or other special days. I just have to make sure it gets to the garage guys else the front staff gorges on it.

I must say that before you asked the question it never even occurred to me. Doesn't feel like the kind of thing that you'd tip for, but what the hell do I know? Also, tipping to park your own car up front and holding on to your own keys???!!! $50-200???!!! Holy crap, now I've heard it all...

Never considered it until I read it here. Tipping has gotten way out of control. We are spending enough just going to the dealership for service.
