I'm hoping to get my 4s soon. I'm buying the car outright and it will be my dd pretty much year round. I really would like to get a full wrap so I've been looking for someone that will do the kind of work that I see Premier and others do on this site. Unfortunately I'm on the East coast (Massachusetts) so I can't use them. I've found someone that does quality work and he's quoted me about $5k for the job. I'm wondering that sounds reasonable to people that have had their entire car done.

 

I've gotten the same sort of quotes, which seem pretty silly to me. 6speed member Sujan got his for under 3k, so I may look in to that.

 

I don't have a full wrap, but had the the entire front end, mirrors, headlights, foglights, A pillars and in front of the sunroof custom installed for around $1,700.

 

In my experience, if you're outside of the CA or perhaps PNW areas you're going to be dealing with one installer per region or even per state who can actually do the full wrap, and as such they're free to charge whatever they want. 5k is still high though, perhaps unless it involves complete disassembly of all panels.

Definitely look for alternatives if you can, there's got to be more than one installer in new england.

 

Do you really really need a full wrap?

Full hood, bumper, fog and headlights, A-pillar, mirrors and door edges should be fine ~ $1,800.

Roof and rear end is overkill in my very humble opinion.

 

Unless you want a color change.

Premier is up in the $10k range for a full wrap now, 5 years ago it was $5k. They are pretty much charging what the market will bear.

I got quoted last month by premier $3000 for a front end only...absurd too say the least.

There are 2 quality alternatives to premier now in the Bay Area with reasonable pricing.

 

Two years ago I found that the average for a reputable, experienced company was around $3600. $5K sounds too high. Premier's prices are for rock stars are ballers.

Sorry, but you are misinformed. We have always been higher than "$5k" even 5 years ago. And well under $10k even for current...

 

There is also a difference in pricing between clear bra installers and vinyl installers. Vinyl is typically referred to as "wraps", which essentially changes the color of the vehicle. Clear bra installations are for essentially that, clear paint protection film, which does cost quite a bit more than vinyl. There is also a significant difference in thickness of the material between clear bra and vinyl wraps. Clear films on the market range from 8-8.5 mils vs. vinyl from 1.5-2.5 mils. Hope this helps

 

Unless you manufacture your own, special film that's unbelievably expensive, your explanation doesn't explain why your quality installation costs at least double what's charged elsewhere in the country by very experienced wrappers. I'm guessing it has something to do with Palo Alto and so many internet millionaires being nearby. Nice work if you can get it.

 

I highly doubt its double. But from my experience, and that's from me having used two other outfits that did a horrendous job on my GT3 and Audi S4, Premier had yet to disappoint. Been using them since and by now over 7 cars deep along with countless friends / co-workers that have all been satisfied. Great service and the results are far above what I've seen. For what it's worth I'm in Claims for Allstate so I'm sharp with these things.

 

Unless prices have dramatically shot up in the past 2 years, $5K is top dollar for a quality full wrap, so I'll still stick to my use of the term "double".
