Had a conversation with the 918 Client Manager Daniel Eastman today. He's one of 4 people in the world authorized to drive the 918 Spyder. Worldwide they are 50% sold out and expect to done by next year. They sold more in the last 5 months than the last 2 years.

Besides the car itself he talked about Porsche's VIP program for 918. For those who buy and keep the car for 6 months have first right of refusal for any new car for 3 years. For 3 years they will have 10 years. This includes specialty cars and even GT Cup cars if they want. They have sold 50 GT3's in a 24hr period with this program. They will also have access to very exclusive events. This will only be available to the first owners.

Daniel with also fly in to meet with clients one on one to discuss orders options. Clients will also have direct access to engineers if they have any technical questions. Really cool program unlike anything else offered by other manufacturers.

 

Very cool car. We have two clients purchasing them, so it will be a exciting to see them.

 

AND, if you didn't already know this, Daniel Eastman is a hoot and a half! He is/was an instructor at PSDS in Alabama. He's an awesome driver and just about the funniest, most outgoing person I've ever met.

At the end of each PSDS program (I've done Performance and Masters) they have a "hot lap" session where you get driven around the track by an instructor. Just to show you what fast really looks like. At the end of my first class, I ended up with Daniel in a turbo. I wouldn't say he terrified me... but he was driving very fast indeed.

So - two days later at the end of Masters - I ended up with Daniel again. When I got into the car I told him I'd driven with him two days earlier, and I thought he'd been holding back. I was joking - but it turned out he had been! We flew around the track, it was amazing. I only imagine going for a ride with him in a 918.

Wish I could afford one...

I had a nice memory of Daniel also at PSDS in the off road cayenne exercise. He was very funny and entertaining. Sounds like he is doing well in his next chapter with the 918 program.

I had Daniel as an instructor last year. Great guy and fantastic instructor

 

Also had the pleasure of meeting him at PSDS. I still have "gentle, gentle, gentle" ringing in my ears.
