I don't think anyone wants a resprayed brand new 120K+ 991.
A black..ok...geez...non Basalt..have you heard of that

A defective product should be sold at cost to build. However, I bet Porsche won't do that until they figure out how many cars have this issue. Pray that it is only a few.

Going to give Porsche a call today.

FYI,

These are NOT easy to find. You have to be looking for it. I still can't believe I did not see them earlier. My professional detailer, who is very meticulous about his work, pointed them out to me.

Not sure what Porsche is willing to do about it, but for the moment I am thinking...

I DO NOT WANT TO "WET SAND/RE-SPRAY" MY BRAND NEW $155,000.00 PORSCHE. For a list of reasons.

I am still happy with the car, but less impressed that this was allowed to make it out of the Factory (especially if they were aware).

Delivery Date: 04/25/13 (March 2013 Build)

BTW...How do you post pictures?

Thanks

Open a free account at Photobucket. Upload your pictures there. Once uploaded, ut your cursor on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the picture. A drop-down box will give you choices. Choose "Get Links". A new box will open with various types of links. Choose the last one. Click on it. That copies the link. Then go to your post and Control+V (PC) or Command+V (Apple). That pastes the image link. You can review it or submit your post but the image won't appear until you do one of those two.

Thanks,

Will try to get some up here soon.

Opened a case number with PCNA. Told to make appointment with Service Manager at the dealership to take a look at it since they are the "Specialists" to determine "Repair".

This could either be simple, or become a total pain in the neck.

I already hate hearing the word "repair" being used so casually like it's no big deal. It's a BRAND NEW CAR!

Ughh....

To upload pic;
1. Click of the "Go Advanced" button and you'll see an extended toolbar appear.
2. Click on the paperclip and a pop-out window will appear.
3. Browse and choose your desired pics and select upload.

4. When you're done uploading, they can be selected as attachments by simply clicking on the same paperclip button (and they'll be placed where ever your cursor happens to be in your post).

Thoughts?
The rear bumper can be swapped out for another one.

Folks,

As stated earlier, If you have the issue with "brown dots" below your clear coat on your 991, please contact Porsche and open a case file.

I am in the process of getting the dealer to inspect it and advise a satisfactory resolution. Will keep posted on the result as it progresses.

While PCNA has been responsive, they plead ignorance, or no knowledge of ANY OTHER SUCH ISSUES. I have let them know that there are other customers who have noticed this paint defect in their Red, Yellow, White, and my GT Silver 991s'.

While it may be standard practice to keep it low, it would help all who have been affected by this to have acknowledgement from the top.

I really don't like having to complain about this, but it is NOT simply okay on a car like this.

THANKS!

P.S. To BBOERIT (Original Poster) any resolution so far?

Is it a rear bumper issue or are there cars with freckles elsewhere in the clear coat?

Sanibelspeed,

Mine are in the rear bumper. Random spots, mostly center section.

Others seem to have it at other locations on their cars. These "brown dots might not show up noticeably on darker colors, especially Anthracite Brown.

My front end is covered with xpel clear bra, but does not appear to be any other than the rear bumper on my car.

My car is being delivered to me this evening. They could not wet sand the freckles out so they had to re-paint the front bumper. I also have 2 very small dots on the roof and 1 that's hard to even see on the rear quarter panel. I would not allow them to paint those. The worst "splatter" for me was on the front bumper.

My case remains open but next step for me is formal communications to the PCNA corporate office in Atlanta. Stay tuned.

bboerit,

Thanks for the update.

I spoke with the Service Manager at the Dealership and have an appointment next week to evaluate the spots with someone from their Porsche Authorized Body Shop to determine a resolution.

Very interested in how your painted bumper turned out.

I am concerned about:

a.) Accurate Color Match
b.) Potential Vehicle Value Hit For "Repair/Repaint"
c.) Not To Mention The Hassle and Time. This Is Their Mistake

Also interested PCNA decisions. They claim to know nothing of such an issue when I mention it.

Thanks in advance.

Truly hope everything turns out to your satisfaction. I share the similar feeling as yours when my detailer pointed the spots out to me.

It really looks like spots of dripped hydraulic fluid maybe leaking from a robot spray machine. Paint booths are usually antiseptic and dust-free so it's only logical that it's coming from the equipment itself. I hope they figured it out before mine was in the body shop on July 19th. Also hope PCNA takes care of those affected and express my sympathy for all the anguish it's got to be causing you all. No one wants their perfect car to be born imperfect, needless to say, especially passionate Porsche lovers.
