RMR Porsche get together
On Saturday my wife and I joined the Rocky Mountain Regional Porsche club on a beautiful drive through Golden, Black Hawk, and Nederlands arriving at our final destination in Estes Park, Colorado. A delicious brunch was served at the Stanley Hotel, home of the “Shining” starring Jack Nicholson.
There were about 60 Porsches including a beautiful 928 GTS and a 2010 911 GTS RS. My car was picked along with a 1958 356 in a photo shoot which is going to be featured in the upcoming "High Gear" local Porsche Club news magazine. While there, I had a chance to talk to some of the local hot shoes who attended the recent Circuit of the Americas race. These guys are sooooooooo serious! Telemetry is being communicated to lap tops where throttle position, brake pedal pressure, braking points, acceleration, etc... is being analyzed. They will be racing at our local track, High Plains Raceway. I just may have to join them. Here are a few of the pictures that were forwarded to me:

Superbes photos!
Looks like a great event and that you have a nice crowd in the RMR chapter!
Not trying to be snob or bashing here but my chapter (Peachtree) is mostly populated by guys who takes themselves VERY seriously and the 30-50 year old population is largely underrepresented. Plus, I am not a big fan of shortpants worn with socks and sandals, blackberries with belt clips and PCA plastic name tags They sure are nice and well intended guys but the fun is not really there...
Back to your thread, please post more pictures. I love your Speed yellow monster!

I meant sooooo serious in a good way. Ah come on Serge you don't like the Scandinavian look haaaaaa!!
I believe that high performance cars are meant to be driven as intended, but as you and I both know only about 10% of the owners of high performance cars drive them in anger. - My neighbor and friend across the street used to be president of the Ferrari Club of Denver and he was responsible for organizing all of the events. On several different occasions he invited me to co pilot his car. I'll never forget the time when he had organized a beautiful drive with what must have been 40 mouth dropping Ferraris. We were following two older gentlemen who were probably in their 50's and 60's and they were driving F40's. They were driving soooo slow that VW mini vans were passing them.
Another friend down the street owns a BMW M convertible and he told me the reason he owns the car is because he wants to be noticed and wants people to think he's successful.
Back to the RMR event.....The organizer of the Estes Park drive had notified the group that we would be meeting between 7 and 8AM and that departure would occur shortly thereafter. We got there at around 7:40AM only to find that the group was leaving. So without checking in we joined the parade of Porsches. We slotted right behind a 997 GT3 RS, a 997 GT3 and a super charged 997 GT3. These guys were on a mission to cover as much ground in as little time possible. The route consisted of canyons and mountain roads. What a blast! We got there about a half an hour before the rest of the group. Little did I know at the time of the drive, but I was actually following the guys who had recently participated in the Circuit of The Americas racing event. I also found out that the drive had been divided into 4 groups and that I was driving with the racing group! No wonder I had so much fun and I was thinking to myself, what a fun group, these guys really like to drive their cars as intended!! - groups 2, 3 and 4 not so much. I feel very lucky that we got there when we did.....timing is everything.
By the way, this is the reason we got there at 7:40AM and not 7AM.

I think Saemus suffers with the same problem as I have when I get up early. Falling asleep when walking down the stairs. That's why we moved into an appartment...without stairs Still fall asleep though.
Just kidding.... That's a really cute puppy!

Nice! Maybe I should consider moving West!!
Your point about reason's why people buy sports cars is spot on and I think that what I see in my PCA chapter are guys who cherish their Porsche's so much that they do not really want to push them too hard. I am running with the BMW club and have actually a lot more fun with them (a lot less 'dogmatic' about their cars, much more laid back... And faster!).
I hope Seamus finally made it down the stairs and hopped in the Porsche
