+1. I'm looking forward to doing it, too. Please let us know all about the experience.

Look at the course on paper rather than learning it by just driving. Most autocross is in 2nd gear for safety reasons. If you have PDK it will be a huge plus to learn left foot braking to keep your RPMs up. Learn the line and apexes from someone more experienced with a similar car. Bring painters tape, if you are hitting cones, use the tape. Smooth is fast. Worth mentioning again smooth is fast. Ask the better drivers to watch your runs and don 't be embarrased to ask for help. Have a blast.

What he said. Walk the course - twice if you can. Tag along with a group of newbies and instructors if you can. Take the first lap a little slower just to understand the course. If you are required to work the course ******** cones, try to work first - you can watch others, learn from their mistake, see what areas people are routinely having problems and how those who are successful line up, break, and accelerate. Ask for an instructor! Have a great time!

What a great time! Walked the course three times but DQ on the first run as I missed a gate. Second run 1:32.20, Third run got a "do over" as the timer malfunctioned, Fourth run 1:22.30..what a blast! Put the car in Sport and basically did the entire course in second gear. Although I was prepared for a cone attack, I managed not to hit a single one

It went so fast and there was so much to watch for I did not notice my RPM, speed or hear the PSE, however, no less than ten club members pulled aside to tell me how great the car sounded and a couple asked if it was an aftermarket exhaust.

The downside is I am hooked and will most probably seek greater thrills through DE.

There were around 70 participants and a great deal was raised for the fight against pediatric cancer. I believe that Coca Cola Field (home of the world famous Allentown Iron Pigs) donated the use of their parking lots.

Glad to hear you had such a great time. And for a great cause. I was at the Porsche World Tour last weekend and got the itch. Now hearing from you, got the itch a little bit more!

RNL, can you recommend a helmet as well as an online vendor where I can source one? Thanks.

Apexperformance.net.
Bell Sport Mag.

They give a 10% discount to PCA members.

I was lucky as fitting may be tricky and it fits

You would learn much more with a Driver 's Ed track event. In fact, what you learn in DE will carry over to AutoX. Understanding lines and apexes is a learned artform affected by one 's individual driving style and aggressiveness. If your goal is to have fun, then the occasional AutoX will certainly be enough thrills. Track days are more challenging but rewarding if you continually improve your driving. Your commitment and your need for speed will lead you the way.

Richard, glad you enjoyed it. Wish I could have made it but my 8yr old girl would not have been happy about it.
