Winter tire and wheel advice
Hi All:
New to the forum and Porsche so please forgive my ignorance & naivete. I need some advice for picking up winter tires and wheels for my new C4 now that autumn on the horizon. The thing is that I live in NYC (no garage) and storage space could be an issue, so, in particular:
1. Is there any advantage to buying tires/wheeels from my dealer? (The local dealer where I purchased the car already said no to storing out of season wheels/tires. Is this likely the same for all dealers or is worth trying some out of town guys?)
2. If not buying from the dealer, where should I buy them from?
3. If not buying from the dealer, should I still have them put on the new wheels? Or does it make more sense to go somewhere else?
4. Is it typical to have the wheels/tires delivered to wherever you are having them swapped out?
5. I currently have Goodyear Eagle F1's on the car. 19 inch. What should I be buying for winter? I'm in the North East (crap weather over the winter) and putting a lot of miles on the car.)
I'm sure by next year I'll be laughing at my post here, but it's all new to me, so any tips that anybody has would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
If it were me, I would just buy these and be done with it http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...ECHASSISWINTER
Have them delivered to a shop and it will take them 10 minutes to install. As for what to do with the summer set, maybe the shop will store them, toss them $100 and ask if you can have them swap them out in spring.

Michelin 20 "
I got the porsche 20" rim and tire package from last year and I'm very happy with it. This is the first time that Michelin came out with a 20" performance snow tire. I live up in NH and the winters are pretty ruff, super cold and icy roads. I have a C2S and haven't had any problems. It even went through some pretty thick snow, although it was pretty nuts being as I could have been hit by someone else. There was a video on youtube from europe which sold me. It states that this tire was specifically designed for the 991. I have a Cayenne and Panamera 4, but got the rims/tires because I couldn't take keeping my 991 on a trickle charger during the long new england winters.

Use the stock rims for winter and get a set of Michelin snows for them. Order some HRE rims for summer and have stock performance pirellis put on the HRE's. this is what I'm going to do.

Tire Rack has some great options. I got thier 19" package and had them shipped to my dealer. It was less than $2K for tires and wheels. I also have a storage issue but my dealer offers a storage program for the set that is not on the car, cost is pretty minimal.

I wanted 20s and a different look for winter.

I use the factory 20" with snows. I don't think you will see a performance diff with 20" compared to 19". The big issue is there are a lot more choices of tires with 19". And cheaper.
