From GTR to 991 S

Read on several articles, one being japonik if I recall correctly. And of course the forums but been on car forums long enough to know that many people join just to find help so I usually don't count those. At that time I remember it was all that was talked about when talking about the GT-R.
After that issue was resolved (with a lower RPM LC2 in Feb 2009), we could launch all day. And people have, with no issues.
There is another issue regarding the shift fork, but that was resolved as well... For most of the owners. But this isn't as fun to report on Jalopnik.
And the majority of the people talking about the GT-R, were people who wanted the car to fail. We saw it right here on 6speed... Those same people who said it won't sell, resale value will plummet, etc... They weren't as clairvoyant as they once thought.
As mentioned earlier - the GT-R is a polarizing car (like the Yankees). You either love it or hate it. There doesn't seem to be an in-between (except for the apathetic).

+1. I have a hard time throwing stones at anything/anybody, because nobody lives in a glass house. Every constructor has/had issues. The good ones all learn from them.

I blame your thread title...
It basically gave a blank canvas for people to post random thoughts about your previous car(s).
While we had a brief discussion about your inability to compare the GT-R to your 991 (which seemed quite adequate to me), others just can't wait to pounce on the opportunity to offer their opinions (relevant or not).

Just came across this old Porsche ad and couldn't help posting it. Please do not feel offended... That's not my intention, we've had enough GT-R vs 911 discussions
It's just a funny ad

The first real street monster I dreamed of owning was the Phase-III Baldwin Motion Camaro with the balanced and blueprinted L-88 engine. I finally treated myself to one when I returned home from Vietnam.
In those days I never would have considered a souped-up VW from Stuttgart.
But times do change, and, yes, some may still consider the 911 a "girlie" car. But what's wrong with that?

I still have pictures of a yellow 1200 bhp Jun turbo GTR defacing a youtube video burned in my retina :-)
Old news for gtr fans probably. But apparently Nissan will be teaming up with Honda to co-develop the hybrid driveline for the upcoming R36 / NSX.
