2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray vs. 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S

That's always been my problem with Vette's.. back in the day I absolutely loved the 60's Vettes.
But it's sort of like going out for a steak.. You can go to Morton's or you can go to "the Outback" with a coupon...
Just a thought... I wonder if at the Outback, all the customers say to themselves.. this is just as good as Mortons.. ?

go sit in my friends 996. Cheap plastics abound, rattles all over the place, and the carbon fiber has yellowed over. NIce considering it cost nearly $190k over 10yrs ago. Nice.

I suppose I should say that I don't think the interior of the my 130k 911 is nearly as nice as is should be for that price either.

Does it feel like a $50k sports car that can outrun and outperform $100k+ sports cars?

There aren't too many cars in that category. Does it feel as nice as the outgoing E90 M3? No. If you were comparing to a 370Z, then yes. It's not as nice as the S5, either. C63? Nope. Not as nice as the F-Type or CTS-V either. When I optioned a C7 online, mine came out to a little over 70k. There aren't really any other pure sports cars in that range. Mostly luxury sports cars.

I agree. If I didn't already own my 2012 GTS, I would take a serious look at the C7. I might not like it once I drove it, but certainly would take a serious look.

Wow, definitely looks good in white (like your car BTW ).
I'd pass on the cheapo chrome wheels though. But I agree that, as fanatic as I may be about my 911, I'd take a close look if I was on the market. Taking test drives got me in trouble in the past by making me jump from one car to another way to quickly. It did not happen with the F-type, and I hope not with the C7...

good thing its a view from the front. The rear is hideous.
My vette:
Matte wheels,
Dark paint color to hide that ***
Black out tailpipes
Black out the chrome stripe on front grill
replace amber lights to clear
remove the stingray off side
perhaps lower it

I've been a muscle car guy from the start and owned some of the most sought after models when they were new, including a brand new Baldwin Motion Phase-3 Camaro, which was a gift to myself when I returned home from Vietnam.
I currently own a mid-ten-second terminator, which happened to be my first Ford, so I don't really consider myself a "Ford guy."
I did own several Corvettes and my current P-car is my eighth one, including the 2013 991 that I'd replaced with another 2013 991.
I'd traded a C6 ZO6 in for my current P-car and I do miss the "rough and ready" Muscle Car feel every now and then, so I just may find myself purchasing a C7 when the hype wears down and Kerbeck begins knocking 10K off the sticker price.
Of course I'll still keep my manual 2013 C2S, which is probably my all-time favorite car to date. And I don't say that lightly: when I'd decided to get rid of the black 991, I revisited a few other models, e.g., the ZR1 and GTR but ultimately chose the 991 once again. I'm at a point now where numbers don't really mean all that much to me.
A classic example about numbers: Wow, the GTR is a tank but still runs low elevens. That's great until some snot-nosed teen blows you away at a light with his/her ten-second notch Mustang.
When Motortrend talks about "the best driver's car", they surely do know what they're talking about. IMHO.

while I hope youre right about the C7 depreciation , do you think we'll see subsequent price increases like the GTR? IIRC that car debut at $69K? now near $100k?

The cost went up, but performance and features did as well. We started at 485HP, now over 545HP (with even more power for mid-range). With new ones next year rumored to have near 600HP.
How much would one pay in a C6/7 or 991 to have a 60HP increase? I think the additional $10k for power alone may be worth it, but you get all of the new suspension, seats, electronics, etc... as well (for free?).
