991 Dual personality build - options?
#31
Appreciate the opinions! I am definitely gonna spend a lot of time at the dealers around my city before making my final selections. I like the Carrera Classic wheels a lot - they just look sexy. If I drop SC and folding mirrors I could get them for roughly the same price lol. Decisions, decisions!

I'm looking to order a 991 base cabrio in the near future. My desire is to build a car that has all the comforts/luxuries needed to be my daily for a long commute I have, while having a second personality of a fast, fun, family friendly sports car in which I can enjoy some spirited driving around the suburbs. Never gonna track the car or race in any fashion.
So far I have come up with:
Base model 991 Cabrio
Comfort/Luxury:
Full two tone leather interior.
14 - way seats
Premium package plus
Folding mirrors
Bose
Base 19" wheels (smoother ride in the base?)
Voice control (?)
Sporty:
PDK
PASM (?)
PSE
power steering plus
sport design steering wheel w paddles
Appreciate any thoughts/opinions - hoping to keep it around or below 120k MSRP.
Thanks!

In the U.S. (at least on the west coast) I got 5.5% off without a blink by just asking.. I probably could have gotten a bit more....
Don't forget you will get some discount. I'm not sure how much you can get in the U.S., since it is big difference with the swiss market, but I think 3-4% shouldn't be that hard to get. With that in mind you should be able to get a $125k price down to $120k

Save a few builds, start with the barest of configurations and then do a high end configuration.. Then start doing your own tradeoffs based on your finances and preferences..
It takes a while (but is kinda fun) and then by the end of that process you will have a pretty good idea of what you want or don't want.. or at least are willing to pay for..
At least if you spend the time doing that, it will help with the disease that happens a lot here... You order and then you find out about some feature or something and wish you could change your order....
And for the features that people around here say are "Must have" you can decide for yourself.. The folks around here have a diverse set of opinions and tastes.. Some folks track their cars and to them performance is everything and don't care about interior... others just want luxury.. Some people pick out color schemes that to others are hideous, so it is almost like picking out a home and decorating..
There really are no must haves... only wants.. a base C2 is a nice car, everything else on top of that is just nice... Best thing to do is learn about every feature then make your decisions and then you can rest at night with your 100K+ order.

Thanks.
I'm curious - do most people leave the aluminum interior trim as is or get the leather instead or carbon fiber options?? With the two-tone leather interior I thought the aluminum trim looked kinda out of place - on the configurator anyway.

You local dealer can probably show you the different trims. They look different in person, compared to the configurator.

I like the aluminum and the carbon . I currently have both (Carbon on my Boxster S and Aluminum on my 997 Turbo) .

I had the extreme pleasure of driving the base and S cab yesterday extensively.
Both are amazing cars, but I realized that the car is already very comfy and plush without all the extra interior options. I also liked the slightly more sporty look and feel of the S just a touch more. Especially I loved the wheels, red calipers and PASM the most!
So I'm now set on either finding or ordering a low optioned S Cab!!
I think I'd be happy w minimal interior options and just PDK, SC, PSE and the sport steering wheel!
Any advice on how to best search for this car off the lot someplace ??

Porsche has a preowned car locator on its website. http://www.porsche.com/usa/approvedused/usedcarlocator/ It is not always up to date but will get you a start. Pretty much all the dealers have their own inventory up to date and online for both used and new cars. So if you know what dealers are in your area you can look up the info you want online.

Best of luck finding a low optioned S (or anything)..
Best chance you have of that is ordering.. (and of course waiting 3.5 to 4 months.. Otherwise you will most likely be blessed with many options...
Unfortunately by the time you fiddle around with ordering and the options you most likely will decide it's imperative you need about 20K worth of options..
