Looking for the right DD exotic
#62
LOL!!! Hahaha
The Turbo cars that are for sale over here are very well equipped cars (like I said... Dealer cars). It would be worth a try I rhink.
Regarding the Vette... Ehm... To say it very polite: I'm not a very big fan of the C7
I admit that it is a great car for the money (if you can get over the hideous looks), but it is no comparison to a 911 or a R8 in terms of refinement IMHO. Yes, the interior now looks a lot better, but is still far behind a Porsche interior. Handling and performance are good as far as I can judge (never drove it).
I think you first need to figure out what you want. Although the C7, 991 and R8 are very similar when it comes to performance, all three are very different cars in terms of concept. Vette is front engined+RWD, the 991 is rear-engined+RWD (or AWD) and the R8 is mid-engined+AWD. Than you get the difference in gearboxes. vette is an old fashioned automatic (slushbox) or a manual, both germans have dual clutch or manual. Big difference!!
You should first need to do extended test drives before you can decide what you reakly like. Spending that amount of money on a car, while you don't have a clue what you prefer to drive is not recommended. You have gone from Panamera, via Cayenne to a 430, 991, R8 and now even a C7!

True like I said I won't be buying till next winter. But those will probably be bare bone cars that people just wanted to buy to get in and then get rid of. This may be blasphemy but anyone consider the new c7 z06? Would be a hell of a lot cheaper lol. Probably could get it fully optioned for under 100k. Since the c6 plateaued at 107k and they gave 15k off on those.

My lord! You're a year away from ordering anything and this thread has already reached 5 pages (mostly pointless non 991 related banter). Now you're considering a Vantage, then it'll be something else! Are we looking at a whole year of this discussion? Please go drive all the sodding cars you can and buy what you like!
I give up!

Before there was what, 10 cars? Now the question is which is the best out of these 4? Only one I haven't driven is the r8.

If you FORGET to mention a GT3, that probably means you do not really want it, that it is not really on your mind ! Little chance you forget to mention a car you really lust after !

There is no substitute.... (When comes to a daily driver that is)

This is particularly true on the 6speedonline 991 board. And over at R8talk, we'll say for a reliable, DD exotic "there is a choice of just one"
OK, it's not as catchy as "there is no substitute", but at least I didn't pay a PR company to come up with my "slogan".

Wow, five pages and counting....
I'm surprised my recommendation of the preowned SLS didn't get any traction.
Maybe the styling is not loved in this forum, but after tracking a SLS for three days last year, I find it to be an amazing car that can do both DD and track duty with lots of visceral enjoyment. And I think it is definitely an exotic DD. Lots of owners use them daily and i plan to own one at some point. Yes the interior electronics are showing their age, but I think it's on par with the R8 and better than the Vantage.
Most of these cars are low miles and babied by their owners. Very reliable car try to get a test drive in one, it will be worth it, trust me!
