Did the dealer take my car for a joyride?!?

It's a 911, not a Ferrari. 5, 15 or 50 miles is totally immaterial to the value, maintenance schedule, etc. When I had sensor issues with my 997 I told the dealer to put as many miles as you need on it to make sure I don't have to make a second trip. Surely your time is more valuable than even 50 miles on your car, isn't it?

At least here in the tri-state area, the techs are too busy to take cars out on pleasure drives and the service managers have too much on the line to allow their subordinates to do it.

15 miles is nothing when trying to replicate an intermittent problem.

I once had 75 additional miles on my M5 after a routine oil service.

Had my Audi S4 in for service last week. when i picked it up, all service was done under warranty and were detailed on the invoice. invoice also listed that car was driven 15 miles to check that repair was a success. seems reasonable to me.

?? You did not think 75 miles for a routine oil service was excessive ??
