I would have been OK with a top that lifted off, as long as one person could do it and it stowed in the car. Oh well. I think it's nice looking and may be a good compromise for me. My biggest complaint about the Boxster is I can't see a damn thing backing up with the top up and where I live doesn't have a whole lot of top down weather.
I would like the top to be body color and metal instead of fabric covered, or at least available in all the cabriolet top colors. I'm guessing that may happen in a while (different colors), maybe after PTS returns to the Configurator? With black only, I could only see a dark colored body, but maybe I'm not very imaginative.

Disinformation spread to increase price, definitely not true. Happens with each new model

I think it is great. I always liked the Targa and this is a great modernization. The mechanism is not that different from the Cab - I think the one top panel mechanism is identical to the mechanism for the same panel in the cab. Since the Cab has three panels and a cover, this looks less complex to me. This also explains why it is priced like the 4 and 4S cab. I don't disagree that a manual might be an option. Do I like it $20K more than mine? Despite the clean line of the roof, do I like it as much as the line on my coupe? Do I like the throw-back silver bar or would painting it in the same color as the car be better? All good questions. I will wait and see it in person, and wait and see how the economy goes, but I will likely keep my current ride.

Yeah, its not for everyone just like Mustangs, Corvettes, Ferrari, Nissan, etc...
Thats why Porsche makes 15+ variations of the 911.

In terms of looks, I always have been a fan of the original Targa and I like this one even more, but that is just a matter of peronal taste.

Nevertheless, I guess they will sell pretty good...

I agree 2x. Could have saved unnecessary weight and complexity with the Targa...and with AWD you would think they would have wanted to keep weight down. Ugh.

With PDK and Sport Chrono, the Targa 4S will do 0-60 in 4.2 secs and the quarter-mile in 12.5 secs with a top track speed of 182 MPH, according to Porsche. For comparison purposes, a C4S Coupe's numbers are 3.9, 12.2 and 184 MPH and a 4S Cabrio's are 4.1, 12.4, & 182.

The Targa looks great but I would prefer the simpler original manual targa top. The whole system is a lot less complicated but still ingenious! Best of all, it saves weight and fit with the less but better scheme.

I don't get it... How is it different than a cabrio other than maintaining the glass in the rear? Does it give you the same feeling of open air driving as a cabrio?

+++ Fully agree! The looks are classic and updated at the same time. I would expect body is more rigid than a cab ??, the wide 4wd body makes it very attractive IMO.

Make mine dark brown metallic, espresso leather....
