Sprint Booster Opinions

I do not have sport+ or PSE

Then this product, or a tune, would be useful.
I don't think I'd ever buy this, but I have definitely noticed the "sloth-like" pedal feel in non-Sport modes. Sure, I drive in Sport most of the time, but for early morning drives in non-Sport mode, you really, really need to give the car a good push of the throttle to get it going from a stop (7MT here).

Good to know. Question I have is if you have SB on AND Sport mode on, what was the difference then, if any?

This means that Sports modes should see an increased throttle response too.
The throttle response may in that case become too sensitive to your taste in Sport/(+). I would personally consider SB only if I did not have SportChrono. I tried SB on my Cayman R that had SportChrono, liked it in the beginning but ended up removing it as Porsche's settings were the most balanced across all modes.

I got my Sprint Booster in the mail yesterday. I looked at the gas pedal assembly and I don't feel too confident about trying to reach for the wires and plugs back there. I have an appointment on Monday for my buddy's shop who will install it for me. Unless someone knows an easy way to disconnect the gas pedal assembly?

My guess is that it could be helpful for street driving in non-sport mode, especially if it eliminates any initial throttle lag. But for track driving, it may actually be detrimental, turning the throttle into an on-off switch when instead you want fine, linear control over throttle inputs when driving near the limits of adhesion.

I found the unit to be quite helpful on my ZO6 and Hemi Challenger: it made the accelerator much more linear.
I remain in Sport-plus when driving the 991, so I don't really see a need for the Sprint Booster in my car.

If you have a couple of hours today, you may want to fiddle with installation according to these instructions. It is for a 997, but assume directions are more or less the same.

The link to the white paper coming from the 997 thread is also useful to get a detailed explanation about what the SB does and how: http://www.crosslake.net/~dbipes/spr...intBooster.pdf[/QUOTE]
Reading it, I am concerned that, with the SB, one could activate the kickdown before having gone through 100% of the pedal travel (and having felt the pedal 'resistance' of the kick down). Kickdown is something that I dislike on the track as I want to remain a 100% in control of my gear all the time. If SB makes this worse, it is a complete no go for someone taking is car to the track I think.

My opinion is do not mess with the computer programs that Porsche spent millions of dollars and thousands of hours testing, and to which can have unintended consequences on your whole ecosystem of PSM, PDCC, PTV etc., to say nothing of the safety concerns of messing with your throttle pedal (again, without the r&d to back it up). I understand why they program a "lazy throttle" for Normal mode but I have to believe that in Sport or Sport Plus, the throttle response is the way it came from the factory for a very good reason.
I also don't understand how this would help with "lag" which I would define as a delay between throttle and engine response.. I think what people really mean is you just have to push further down on the pedal.. That isn't lag.. Lag is a delay, such as what you can get with a turbo..
If there is a lag, it would be a function of the ECM and not the pedal. Al this thing does so change the response curve of the pedal so that the ECM sees a more aggressive input..
An ECM solution can do the same thing without requiring inserting this into the drive by wire chain..
Honestly This kind of solution has safety implications.. If this thing fails it could go WOT at the wrong time..
No thanks
