Anybody have regrets with Agate Gray
Trying to finalize build and I am thinking Rhodium Silver but my son is saying Agate looks better. I am wondering if Agate would be difficult to take care of simply because it is a dark color which are always more challenging with swirlz, spots etc.... Has anyone gotten Agate and regretted it?

I am on my 4th Silver Porsche (latest is a 2012 991 Cab). I used to always get black cars, but, they are just too high maintenance. The Agate grey however is a gorgeous color. I am also in MI (Detroit burbs), just watch the pot holes out on the roads!

The Agate with Agate/Pebble interior is what sold me on my 991 4S Cab so, I got the exact same combo on a 991 Turbo Cab. The gray is very deep with a lot of color. At certain light angles, it has a bronze hue to it which almost turns it brown. The 4S got more comments about the color combo than the car itself. The Turbo on the other hand, gets equal daily comments car vs colors. It really looks nice with the S or Turbo red calipers.
I've also swapped the center brake light and turn markers to clear which cleans up the lines.
I've only seen 4-5 Agate gray in South Florida and every time it catches my attention. However, both the browns are interesting to me for future consideration.

Not to thread hijack but do you have a picture and link to where you got them? Didn't know the center brake light was available in clear.

I can tell you any of the darker colors will show the dirt more.. That's just a fact of life... So wash it more...
Sure the dirt gets lost in the silver... and gives a perception that it's cleaner..
I think the agate is very beautiful.. I'd take it over a silver any day... Just my humble opinion.. Not trying to insult those who think porsche's should only be silver... I realize there is that crowd..

Check with your Porsche parts department or Suncoast. I have a Turbo so light is integrated in to rear wing. I purchased and installed at Champion but, here's a pic from Suncoast:

I've got Agate and I'm very happy I chose it. I've got the platinum silk Carrera S wheels with it and the combo makes the car look very aggressive and menacing especially with the lowered SPASM stance (which I would recommend)
I originally had Rhodium specced but changed to Agate and I absolutely love it.
It is fairly easy to maintain. Both Rhodium and Agate are great on the 991 but my personal choice is the Agate. You won't regret it.

We all have our own subjective options on colour. You need to see it yourself, preferably in different light conditions to be sure it's what you want. Take your time as it's a costly decision if you don't like it, as some have found

It's a great color. Subtle changes in various light. Doesn't show dirt immediately like black. (Which is not a color, but an avocation) and has grown on me such that I like it even more than when it was delivered 18 months ago. The only other color I would have considered had it be offered then is the new metallic red

Another point to consider is the effect that ambient light has on Agate. I had ordered it on my car and changed it last minute because on the day and outdoors it looked like a "dirty" black. All I'm saying is take your time and go look at one in person under different light conditions.
