Going to do the wire mesh mod to the left and right ducts that lead to the A-C radiators.

Searched and I've not found any DIYs for this for the 991.

Actually there is a DIY.... Check out SM_ATL's Carrera S Journal.... He posted a DIY along with template (albeit for a SD front bumper) and other useful bits.

Here's a link: DIY - Radiator grill mesh

You'll have to scroll down a bit, but it's on that page.

His post is also on the 991 DIY section... https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-991-diys.html

jawells, yes I saw that but I honestly don't want back cable ties visible on the front of my Aerokit Cup. I also want to cover the other two openings...leaves get in through those as well...and once you have the mesh on the side openings you can't get in there with your hand any longer to pull the debri out.

I looked over the E-Cat but it doesn't really show connection points to the car.

I found a tutorial on Youtube...they guy doing it is removing a boxster front bumper, and he's quite a hack, but if the newer cars are anything like the older then it's basically plastic rivets and torx screws. When I do it I will document it.

Use some blue painters tape to put a the bumper and fender edges to protect them.

Start by opening the hood.

Remove the tools from the front trunk compartment. Your going to need the tool that removes the headlight that comes in the kit its a reverse allen with a handle on it. Open the lower grommet to access the headlight removal bolt and just turn the tool toward to you and you will see the light pop out. Remove the light and undo the connector.

Remove the Battery cover at the back by pulling up and outwards.

Then remove the left and right plastics along the fender line. Start at the back next to the windshield and pop the plastic inwards toward the battery there are three small clips that are just pressure fitted.
Once that section is removed pull upwards in the middle of the piece there are two clips and then slide the whole piece to the rear of the vehicle and it will undo from the front plastic piece.

Repeat this step for the other side.

Remove center plastic around the hood release.

Undo 3 T30 bolts that were under plastic by top of bumper.

There is a hidden clip on each side that holds the bumper to the bottom of the headlight opening. Slide the clip towards the center of the car, You can push it from the headlight opening to the center by the hood latch with your finger and then there is a hole on it to use a Right angle pic tool.

Remove all the T30 bolts under the bumper.

Remove the Side markers. by pushing from the front to back.

Remove the 2 T20 screws at the front of the fender liner on each side.

Pull back fender liner remove T20 that holds the bumper to the fender.

Unplug connectors on each side of vehicle

Then you can slide the bumper forward another person would be helpful with this step.

Hey TRM,

I followed Serge's instructions last summer. You're right that some debri (mostly leaves) will get in there. I've found that I can easily hose off the stuff in there and most falls out. I also have hit it with my air blaster and all the debri comes out of the two side openings so it's actually good they are there. Regarding the black zip ties, i can assure you will be the only one that knows that they're there. It's up to you but personally I doubt you'll end up with a better solution, I think you'll actually have a hard time getting rid of the debri if you close the side vents. Just my .02

I think your advice is probably best...I'll leave the inner openings un-meshed. I can then use one of these that I have lying around to get in there and pull out leaves and such.

One of the privileges of working in med-surge for many years.
