PDK vs Manual

The bloody fist fights and hair pulling is really the only violence that happens. I've only seen a knife pulled once..
But DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT start a Corvette vs 991 thread.. That is punishable by death..

That's a great idea! I'm gonna start another thread on that right now...

He's the dude who trims my trees.
Or which fits your driving. I love manuals and would very much prefer one (other than my buddy's GT2). But with how much time I spend in traffic and how little time I have to find twisty roads with no LEOs, it just doesn't make sense. I only have 120 miles on my car, but so far, the PDK is fantastic as far as automatics go.

IMO the pdk is great and doesn't detract from the driving experience at all. I had 2 911s manual and then the cayman pdk and one my 911 pdk and wouldn't go back. In fact the only two options I insisted on while shopping was a pdk and sport chrono.

A lot of guys (like me) will only buy a manual sports car. Your transmission choice affects the driving experience a lot more than anything else. Everyone is different, but for me the PDK greatly detracts from the fun of driving the car.
99.9% of my driving is on public streets where I'm not concentrating on "finding a driving line", but rather staying in my lane keeping on with traffic or if I'm lucky I get an open expressway and can really accelerate. In all of this a big part of the fun is shifting myself, downshifting, skipping gears, etc. I just find sitting there with foot on the pedal extremely boring. Using flappy paddles with this PDK automatic would be ok for the SUV, but just isn't fun for me.

I've gone through the same agonizing decision. Porsche PDK is an excellent transmission; durable, responsive and a real performance benefit. However, the more I drive PDK equipped cars, the more I realize I want manual transmissions. I currently daily drive a manual and, knowing myself, I would put the PDK in auto and never touch it. Which, to me, misses the whole point of a sports car.
