Nav question: Trouble distinguishing route choices.

After you plug in your destination the nav gives you route choices. The trouble I am having is there is no "detail" shown on the map next to the route choices. I can hit the minus arrow and change the scale but since I can't figure out how to scroll the screen along the route I still can't get a visual of where this route goes. And I don't see how to get a text description of the route choices.

What can I do, if anything, to get a better indication of where the route choices are taking me?

Yup, another reason the NAV is crap.
I can only sympathise.
I am counting the days, untill I change the PCM to an aftermarket system.

Yet one of the many reasons I dislike this feature.

I select each route and then look at each route list. A real pain in the butt

I haven't even figured out how to find the route 'list'.

Options reveals it. It is confusing and not intuitive. I understand it is of Japanese manufacture.

Thanks, I'll look. A shame that the NAV is such a letdown. I just thought it was me.

Not sure if it works when you are selecting your route, but you can scroll the map by placing your finger and holding it on the screen off-center in the direction you want it to scroll (to the left of center to scroll towards the left and so on). The farther to the edge you place your finger the quicker it scrolls. I use this often to gauge how far traffic is backed up for example to see when it goes 'green' again…
Hope this helps

Unfortunately there is no scrolling with the map, at least what I can find, when you are in the route selection section. The finger scrolling method doesn't work, anyway. Stupid!

Agree that nav is pretty sub par. But the feature that I miss most is having the street that I am on display in a banner bar. Just about every car I've driven with nav has this really handy feature. On the Porsche system current location is buried in a sub menu instead of always displayed.
