X-Pipe under $2K

Hi all,

Forgive me for asking a question that others have asked in the past, but things change, as do customers' experience with a product.

I am looking to add some sound to my 991 C2S, and I am looking to do it for under $2,000. I know at that price point the best I can hope for is a valved X-pipe.

Which X-pipe, in everyone's experience here, has delivered the best, most refined, least droning, nicest sounding tone?

Do you mean a "non-valved" x-pipe? (Valved models are more expensive).

I know NHP has a valved x-pipe that sounds pretty sweet and is well under $2,000. I was considering it before getting the Cargraphic X.

http://www.maxspeed-motorsports.com/...elete%22_.html

Fabspeed also has a non-valved version that is under $2K IIRC.

See, I was a bit wary of buying from there. I have heard of NHP being a reputable exhaust company, but on the Maxspeed Motorsports website you can see that the 991 exhaust has been "out of stock" for quite some time now. How do you like the Cargraphic pipe?

True, but I figure they did a low-number run to see if there would be any interest. They were ready to ship a couple of prototypes back in November for 10% off.

In terms of my Cargraphic X, I love it. It's the louder of the two versions they sell, and it is indeed louder than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised. I did buy it in the classifieds, though, so I didn't pay as much as a new system.

Here's a thread on my write-up: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...son-video.html

In-cabin drone is there, and it's quite loud, but that's the beauty of the valved system: it's off on my morning commutes and long highway drives.

If you're able to spend $500 more, you could get the AWE. Supreme Power has them for about $2,400.

If you're not picky about the sound, and you're looking for a deal, you can't beat Viper's listing a few posts up.

Alternatively, if you're willing to spend a little more and get a valved system that is fully refundable (under most situations) within 30 days, AWE's SwitchPath seems like a popular choice. They even refund the installation/labor you paid, though I don't know anyone who has done this.

ˆ+1. If you have invested in a 991, do not take shortcuts for a hew hundred $$. I have been very happy with my AWE SwitchPath (=valved) exhaust.

I agree: the AWE SwitchPath is a terrific system. Now that the nice weather is finally here, I've been doing a lot of driving and the new AWE exhaust is really adding to the overall fun experience.

I'll have my quieter Cargraphics X pipe for sale. It's about 20-30% louder than factory PSE - can likely pass for a stock exhaust. I like it a lot, but I'm switching to something louder.

I sold the previous Cargraphics X pipe referenced in the thread.

You can see that the X section is freer flowing and the internals allow for more flow, but it looks very similar to factory PSE. Same glorious tone, just a bit more of it.

Probably looking for $1500 + shipping.

I'm leaning heavily towards the AWE. If I'm going to add something to my car, I don't plan to go cheap. I also don't want to overpay. All I've seen and heard on the Switchpath makes it seem to be the best route.

It's built similarly to the factory exhaust, similar to most european TUV approved parts. It's actually quite a beautiful piece, but used (as is the factory exhaust in the picture). It has the typical discolorations of stainless steel.

(hopefully you don't think this was the new part in the pictures.)

Anyhow, certainly seems like you don't know what you're talking about.

I stand down. I'm just giving my opinion.
