New brake pads

Perhaps it's wishful thinking but the TSB front brake replacement pads seem to generate significantly less dust. There are certainly quieter.

Anyone else notice this?

I use these from Zeckhausen Racing on the fronts and get virtually no dust and no noise. I've had them 10,000 miles so far. My originals put dust all over the car and squeaked like crazy.

What model years, or VIN's are covered by this TSB?

Which pads are you referring to?

Any difference in stopping power?

Edit: What Stalker said below. I had no idea there was a TSB on them.

Didn't even know there was a TSB on the front pads.

What are the specific details if you know??

Did you install front and back? How's the stopping power compared to OEM?

I bought front and back sets, but have only installed the fronts so far. Wanted to make sure the performance was good before installing the rears. So far so good. Maybe a slight bit more pedal effort needed with the new pads but nothing dramatic. Haven't really bedded them in so that might be part of it. I'll probably go ahead and do the rears also if the front pads really do dust much less than the stock pads. I'll be posting a write-up of the pad replacement since these calipers are a bit different than most cars I've had before.

I've complained that my brakes squeaked since I bought the car 18 months ago. I tried the repeated hard stops and other cures. I heard of a tsb replacing pads for squeaks, I called PCNA and got past the trained very polite no-ers who answer the phones and who only want to record your mileage and tell you to call the dealer.

They agreed to replace the pads. They stop about the same as the first set but have less dust and haven't squeaked yet

They didn't have any pads for the rear, but those didn't seem to put out as much dust and didn't squeak. I can't tell the difference, but they are quick to tell you they are not for the track.

ChuckJ
PS. They did put anti-squeak on the back when they installed them.

Track pads are not good for the street as they must be real hot to provide peak stopping power.

You make your choices.

Interesting, I've had zero issues with squeaking or excessive dust with my OEM pads.

So after two days of driving without washing you can run your finger down your door and not come up with a black finger? Mine was so bad I thought it would hurt the paint. And the head tech where I have the car serviced said to me: "I love these cars, but are you having any brake dust issues?". I told him not since I changed them.

I'll check next time I wash it Chuck. I just checked and indeed I got a black mark on my finger but it's been 5 days and lots of miles since I washed it. It could be just dirt from the road. It's also possible that with agate/xpel/opticoat I didn't notice.
