I am amazed and impressed by the ingenuity. I would be too scared of voiding the warrantee or blowing the rest of the electronics, although, they are so bad that might not be much of a deterrent. For me, I will push the button, usually not until well after the car is warm - I tend to drive in normal until I get to a reason not to do so.

I agree with the earlier post about the start/stop function - that I could not tolerate. It was always "on" in my new BMW 328 so I made them reprogram the car! It was a condition of me buying the car. Sport and Sport +, just not a thing for me.

Keep on innovating!

No clue, but honestly I haven't noticed a difference and don't really care and I don't spend a lot of time staring at the oil temp gauge..

I understand the importance of oil temperature, but I'm not sure I really understand everyones proccupation with waiting for a specific oil temperature before changing modes. I might be a little more careful for Sport+ because of the redline with in Auto PDK, but I never use that mode anyway. And maybe if it's 10 degrees outside I might be a little more conservative than I would at 70 degrees..

I'm not sure if there is a diversion internally that changes how oil is routed or cooled. But I'm pretty sure that the ECU is much smarter than I am and will do what is most appropriate to get it to normal operating temperature and managing that regardless of mode, I suspect worrying about how the oil temperature gets up to normal operating range is best left to the engine and doesn't need me pushing buttons in an attempt to help it..

But given there are 9 quarts in the sump, so it doesn't surprise me that it might take a few minutes to work it's way through.

Of more concern should be about just taking it easy for a few minutes as the engine comes up to temperature. It is more than oil that is of concern, it is the entire engine. In the old days cylinders (or was it pistons) were slightly oval so that when the came up to temperature and expanded they became round.. And most of the wear to cylinder walls and rings were during that first few minutes. There are many things that designed to operate once they expand and are at temperature.

If the car has been sitting all day or over night, I just take it easy for a few minutes as a matter of habit, but then again I've been doing that since my first car..
