Coolest Kid in the Neighborhood
Left the house very early this morning. So early I saw the half awake high schoolers waiting for the bus (the insane school district starts school at 7 am while the students are not awake until 10)...while passing the kids I noticed that the car attracted a considerable amount of attention, thumbs up and waves and then it dawned upon me...at 60, I'm the coolest kid in the neighborhood.

That's pretty funny. My neighborhood has a section of lakefront, so there is a pretty significant income disparity between those that have homes on the lake and those that don't. I see the kids at the bus stop every morning and watch them get all excited when I drive by in either my 911 or S4. It reminds me of myself as a poorer kid when I saw a car that I idolized. I wonder how many of those kids at the bus stop are inspired that day to do better to be able to drive a car like a 911 someday.

I was out for a drive yesterday, and I had no less than four young women behind me take pictures of the back of the car. Not sure if it was the Turbo factor or the license plate (FASTRNU), or both.
Usually, I see folks mouthing the plate, then they laugh when they finally get it.

Yes I do!
As I recall (and not from personal experience, mind you), the cool kids were the cool kids because they merely accepted the adulation and put forth no effort in that regard. PSE, off....just cruising at regular speed.
I did attend a 40th reunion a few years ago, and the wisdom to be imparted has limited application as I attended an all boys academic high school in Philadelphia: the most accomplished of the alumni were the boring socially retarded nerds back then. Our alumni range from a convicted murderer to a former master of the universe who was one of the geniuses who planned the Iraqi war see Gen. Tommy Frank's critique:

...so I guess one convicted...one not convicted....
Oh, my ride in 1971 and it even had the same dent:

It was irony. It was humor. I was not serious. IT WAS A JOKE! Let me explain: I'm driving a car and mused about how coolness is an absolutely hollow concept.
