I just don't understand the logic of these crossover concepts. Take a roomy car or SUV and ruin the utility of the back completely. Why? I just don't get them! JMO

Underatand your frustrations completely, but we are enthusiasts and typicallu favor the "pure" end of brand be it Porsche BMW ...etc. The rest of the masses are a different story...especially in the US. Many people want their cake and eat it too.

To me...the Cayenne GTS makes no sense...the GTS label screams "race bred" but on an SUV? To me it seems ludicrous...but it sold like hot cakes...

What ru gonna do?

As an X6 owner I have to chime in and say it's a perfect SUV/SAV for my needs. I find it amusing when I read people with such a "bigger is better" mentality and criteria.
As a resident of NYC, it's perfect for day to day (and weekend) needs of a young couple. If I need to haul more than can fit in it, it's time to call the moving company. Though I did drive away from a furniture floor sample sale with a love seat, lamps and chairs recently. Otherwise I see no sense in getting a full size SUV for the one day a year I may need the extra capacity.

With a 4.4 liter twin turbo V8, you're at 100 without knowing or feeling it, it's that smooth, even with its wide tires. It's a really tight car with a lot of power, and great performance (without even mentioning its weight or class) while doing its best as an SUV aerodynamically.

So I prefer these shapes (though not the GT's) to the "functional" boxy. If you merely judge by cubic feet of cargo, get a GMC

But since Porsche already makes an SUV, I have no problem at all with a sleek greenhouse. I simply think of it as the fat being trimmed, and more true to the shape a Porsche should have.

Thanks for the explanation. I was not being critical of your choice - to each their own. And obviously, as I drive a 911, bigger is better does not wash with me, except when it comes to engine displacement. I just look at the crossovers, and other concepts to be sure and I try to imagine what the design team was thinking conceptually when they went to management and what management was thinking when they said go ahead? I can understand the Cayenne GTs, sort of - few in the US uses their off road vehicle to go off road. There are a lot of guys that are stuck needing a "family" mover. If we make ours faster and better handling people who would rather get a 911 but can't can feel a little of that fun factor even when "trapped" in a truck. But an SUV is a people and/stuff mover in the US, so why eat into its seemingly single biggest asset?

Dive your in good health! I would ban all SUVs - to hard to see around in a 911
