Unable to use Launch control :(

This is the sequence I used:

1. Sport + mode

2. Traction off

3. Left foot on brake

4. Accelerator to floor.

but I am not getting the Launch indicator on the gauge cluster or on the steering wheel

what am I doing wrong?

you have to have sport chrono option for the launch control feature to work. it does not work on all pdk models, only those with sport chrono. do you have this option?

when you're pressing the brake, is it to the floor?

Why would you turn traction control off? The whole point of launch control is to get the fastest launch and turning off the traction control is not going to help. I would not be surprised if this is your problem. I would think launch control is designed to work with the traction control or you would just burn out the tires and red line the engine. I don't really know since I have never tried to launch when my traction control was off.

You're supposed to turn it off as part of the sequence with PDK and Sport Chrono.

Even with a MT, you want the traction control off because it will kill the power once it detects wheel spin. You just have to manually modulate the clutch and throttle to prevent too much wheel spin.

I haven't tried yet, as I just finished my breakin.. But the good to know app says:
1) Sport+
2) Traction off
3) and "Quickly" press accelerator to floor and activate kickdown...

And when you do this you should see launch activate...

So I'm wondering if you do step 3 and pressing accelerator too slow you aren't activating kickdown..?

I don't think so at least with a 2012 991 C2S with PDK and Sport Chrono. I just checked the owners manual and it does not say to turn off the traction control and I know for a fact that it works with the traction control on.

Copied from PG155 of the Porsche Imanual for 991. I navigated based on 2013/2014 but this was in 2012 area..

http://www.porscheownersmanuals.com/...Launch-Control

Doesn't look like traction control is relevant.

Preconditions:
– Launch Control should only be used when the engine has reached operating temperature.
– "Sport Plus" mode must be switched on (indicator light on the button comes on and SPORT PLUS appears on the
digital speedometer or on the steering wheel).
  1. Press the brake with your left foot.
  2. Quickly press the accelerator down fully (kickdown activated) and hold it.
The engine speed will level off at around 6,500 rpm.
"Launch Control active" is displayed on the multi-function display.
Depending on equipment, the "LAUNCH CONTROL" logo appears on the steering wheel.
  3. Release the brake within a few seconds.
Remaining stationary for a long time with LAUNCH CONTROL can lead to overloading of the transmission.
To protect the transmission, the engine power is then reduced and the LAUNCH CONTROL process is cancelled.
In order to drive off, the accelerator must first be fully released.

When pressing the accelerator ALL the way to the floor, do you feel a click?

There's no need to turn off traction control. I've done it few times without a problem.

Click...perhaps I did...will check it next time.
