991 PCM map view 3D Building

Any one experiencing problem with 3D building option on the map view of 991? Mine is not working (in fact only worked for a couple of occasions, for one minute each).

Cheers

Nope, Have had no problems..

But what exactly do you mean by.. "not working". Is your entire Nav not working or just certain objects etc..

Sat Nav working fine... It is only the option of "3D building" where the screen should show you the buildings across the streets you driving through. I only saw these building view for a couple of time despite the "3D building" is ticked under "set map" "map view"...

Cheers

You need to change the zoom to much, much closer...I think it only works in the first 4 clicks...after that, you will see just the regular mapping.

Give that a try and report back.

Good luck!

Yes, but understand also that there isn't always 3D data available for your physical location.. And as mentioned you have to be zoomed in close

Do you mean not all streets have 3D data or the same street not always has a 3D data....?

I will try zooming in next week when I'm back home

Most of the GPS's use common databases.. And I've often found that the 3D stuff is hit and miss.. Sometimes it exists for a city/area and sometimes not. I certainly don't expect it in a residential or rural area, but would in major downtown like Chicago.. Sometimes I've found it is just wrong anyway when it is there.. and sometimes stuff is missing..

Also, for example when I'm in some places in Europe I get nothing.. (haven't driven much in the UK lately, but in Germany for example my garmin never gives me any 3D data)..

Where I drive in southern California, I rarely see 3D buildings.. (But honestly I don't look for it much either as I don't really tend to zoom in real close)

Even in the city it does not show more than 75% of the buildings. Very hit and miss. Fun to use though and my own house/garage/addition all show. Not too up to date but that's the supplier not Porsche's issue.
