Hand brake...

I was a passenger in a friend's 991 turbo. I noticed he doesn't need to press the hand brake button to disengage it. It disengage automatically after he puts the PDK on "Drive". He said it is a feature that i can enable. I had a look at the setting but couldn't find it... Any advice please...

Thank you

Was this a 997? 991 doesn't have a hand break on the center console anymore. Sorry if I don't understand your post.

It should just disengage automatically as you Press the throttle provided the seatbelt is fastened.

Correct - put PDK in drive, seat belt fastened, step on accelerator and the "hand" brake will auto-disengage.

FrstPorsche: meant to say the parking not hand brake... and yes 991 not 997...

CMM: I understand the brake disengages automatically with the throttle, but in the friend's turbo it disengages when the gear was moved to "D" while the car is still stationary which in theory could reduce the wear and tear on the brake compared to throttle pressing
