How many miles are you planning on?

This is good to know as a soon to be new owner. I was going to keep my jeep as a daily driver and leave the 991 for good weather which is most of the year aside from rainy season. Sounds like unless it's a hurricane I should drive the 991.
I am already nervous about scratches or dings. Dreading that !!
Do most folks fix them as you get them?
My jeep looks better with the dirt and dings but the 991 is the polar opposite. I need to see a shrink before I take delivery

Drive the car! You bought it, use it. Unless you got a special issue version, 911 50th, Carrera Classic, etc, it's not going to rise in value. I've got 46k miles on it currently, purchased Feb '12. I just drive whenever and wherever. We are planning on three trips in the next 6 months. So I should be negating the OEM warranty before the years out. Admittedly, I'm nervous about that since I've already had to two replacement transmissions put in. Fortunately, the current one has been fine.

Do you drive for work or for fun?

Yikes! Early 991 teething pains you think?

Not at 991 but my 2011 997 came with 5700 miles on the odometer (delivered 3 weeks ago). My current work commute is about 50 miles round trip but I split the driving with my other car. On the weekends I will be using the 911 almost exclusively. I expect to get anywhere from 8-12k miles per year.

I drive for fun, no work!
I have rounds that I do around town. Do track events quarterly or so. And why fly, when you can drive?
Yeah, that's what I keep telling myself. Each issue was different, but nothing found to be attributed to the engine, PDK both times.
But really, it is a car. A high end car known for its durability and reliability. This is my first Porsche, and I have no illusions about it being 'special' outside of its capabilities. I drive the bugger, with no clear bra. Touch up the little dings it receives, wash it, and detail regularly.

Wow is that your turbo with 300K miles on it? That is awesome if it is. Now thats a value proposition on money spent.
