I thought it would be at least $40k for this option. Porsche is selling it for a measly $25.00

As if the regular key plug wasn't stupid enough. With the auto stop/start and enter/drive electronic sensors, I should be able to enter the car, depress the clutch and have it start. No need for a key plug.

the standard Entry and Drive " black dummy key is already realistic enough to cause an unknowing thief ( most ) to break in to drive off with the " key left in the ignition " ....having a dummy that looks like a shiny real key ...O-K !

Suncoast has been quick on this one (as usual in fact).
Mine is on order, Can not believe it is so cheap...for a Porsche piece of plastic I mean.

Even with the Entry & Drive option, I like turning the ignition with the dummy key from the left side, this is part of the Porsche racing heritage.

The earlier models E&D came with just a plain plastic key, without the silver trim. It looks cheap -- really cheap. This is a upgrade.

I believe so... My '14 C4S came with it:
Couple of other 991s on the dealer lot with entry and drive had them as well....
I have to say, it is very much looking like a 'real' key left in the ignition. I hadn't really given much thought about enticing bad guys. But I guess if someone is out to break-in to steal some crap from my car, the dummy key being there won't make much difference. And if someone is looking to attempt to steal a sophisticated car like the 911, well they also probably don't care whether the key is there or not (unless of course they have an RF hack that can spoof the key serial to start the car.... but again, dummy key doesn't make much diff) since they must know how to defeat the electronics to begin with.

And this is the best reason why I'm not buying this for my car.
Today is the two year anniversary with the car and the dummy stick initially annoyed me. It looks cheap and is odd. Over the past two years I have rarely looked at it, it has ceased to annoy me.
I say, save your money.
